Chapter Twenty-Five
John and I were still talking when the doorbell rang.
“I wonder who that could be,” I said.
“If it’s Brad, I’ll punch him in the neck,” he said.
“And I will be perfectly fine with that,” I said. I grinned and opened the door. And there stood Hayden. She looked horrible. Her eyes were red and puffy because she had been crying and her mascara was running down her face making her look like a raccoon.
“I know. I look horrible,” she said. She sniffed and then started crying again.
“Hayden, what’s wrong?” I asked her as I led her inside. (As if I didn’t already know)
“Brad just dumped me!” she cried. “Like literally, 10 minutes ago!”
“Oh my god, Hayden! I’m sorry!” I said. I patted her back to comfort her.
“He said that he didn’t need me anymore. And that I---I was---annoying,” she said. She cried into my shoulder and I let her.
“Don’t worry about it. Brad is a jerk and he doesn’t deserve you,” I said.
“That’s right,” John chimed in. “You deserve someone way better than him,”
Hayden looked at John. “Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t know you two were busy,” she said.
It took a while for me to get what she was hinting at. “We weren’t about to do that, Hayden,” I said.
“Yea, and besides, she wouldn’t let me anyway,” John said.
I glared at him and he shut up. “Oh,” Hayden said. She sniffed again, then took a look around the house.
“Whoa. What happened here?” she said.
“Oh, it was nothing. Brad got mad so he trashed my house,” I said.
“Why did he get mad?” she said.
I laughed. “Because I slapped him,” I said.
“Well, why did you slap him?” she said.
“Look, it’s not important. What IS important, is that you don’t need Brad for a boyfriend. You need a guy who will treat you like a princess. Who will care for you and love you with all of his heart. Who will snuggle with you and hold your hand. Who will…..” John cleared his throat.
I continued. “Who will do all those things for you because he loves you. And Brad isn’t that guy,” I said.
“So I need a guy like John then,” Hayden said. He blushed.
“Yes. But not John. He’s mine,” I said.
She laughed. “That’s ok. I don’t want him anyway. He eats too much. He would run me dry of all my money!” she said.
“That’s true,” John said.
“Thanks, Tiffany. You always know how to make me feel better,” she said. She hugged me.
“Glad to help,” I said.
“And you know, I was wondering why Brad had that red handprint on his face. I had no idea it was you who did that!” she said.
“Yea. If someone makes me mad, I let them have it,” I said. She laughed.
“Well, I guess I’d better go,” Hayden said.
“No, don’t go just yet. Why don’t you stay and watch a movie with us?” I said.
"Um, Tiffany. The TV?" John pointed out. Oh yea. The TV was busted.
"Well, how about we listen to music instead?" I asked.
"But your iPod...," John pointed out.
"I know, I know. Ok, let's pretend that we have a movie going while I make us some popcorn," I said.
"Good. I'm hungry," John said.
"Surprise, surprise," I said. After the popcorn was made, I sat down on what was left of the couch and we started "watching" a movie.
"I love this part!" John said.
"What are we even watching?" Hayden asked.
"I don't know. Some disgusting movie," he said. Suddenly, the house phone rang. I got up and ran to answer it.
“Yes?” I said.
“Honey, it’s your grandma,” she said.
“Ummm…” I said. I didn’t know what to say. Which grandma was it???
“It’s Molly,” she said. Oh! My ‘new’ grandma.
“Hi. Um, how did you get our number?” I said.
“I looked it up in the phone book,” she said. I sighed with relief. I thought she got it some other way. Like some freaky, unexplained way.
“Oh, ok. So what’s up?” I said.
“You need my help don’t you?” she said.
“Uh, kind’ve,” I said. “There is no way that Brad will change me now. We had a little argument,” I said.
“I see,” she said.
“So do you know any other werewolves or another way to change me?” I asked.
“As a matter of fact, I do know another werewolf,” she said.
“Really? That’s great!” I said.
“Good. I’ll bring him right over,” she said and hung up. Well, ok then. I walked back in the living room.
“Who was that?” John said.
“Grandma. She says she knows another werewolf who can change me,” I said.
(A/N: Told you there would be a new character. Hehe. Don't forget to comment, vote and fan)
