Chapter Twenty
After my mom dropped me off at the hospital, I ran up to the front desk.
“Hi, can I help you?” the lady said.
“Yes, I need to see my friend. Her name is Hayden Harp,” I said.
“Ok. Hang on one second,” she said. She typed stuff into the computer. “She’s in room 108,”
“Thank you,” I said. I rushed to the room. It was so weird being in the hospital again. When I saw Hayden, I was thankful it wasn’t ME in the bed.
“Hi,” I said.
“Hey,” she said.
“How are you feeling?” I said.
“Good. Better than earlier,” she said.
“That’s good,” I said. I noticed someone else in the room. The person I did NOT want to see at the moment was standing in the corner.
“Hi, Tiffany,” Brad said.
“Don’t even talk to me,” I said.
“Ok,” he said, as he ushered me out of the room.
“What part of ‘Don’t talk to me’ don’t you understand?” I said.
“I thought you weren’t mad anymore about the kiss,” he said.
“Well, I WASN’T but that changed as soon as Hayden ended up in the hospital!” I said.
“What does that have to do with anything?” he said.
“Well, I’m no expert on this stuff but I have a hunch that when you kissed me, it shocked Hayden, which is why she’s in the hospital. Does that sound familiar?” I said.
“Yea, but I still don’t understand,” he said.
“Ok. Let me dumb it down for you. Since you imprinted on both me AND Hayden, every time you touch one of us, it hurts the other one. Which is BAD and it’s YOUR fault!” I said. (Ok, I didn’t really dumb it down THAT much but he understood. Finally.)
“Oh. That IS bad,” he said.
“Really? I haven’t noticed?” I said, being sarcastic.
“How do I fix it?” he said. I laughed nervously.
“Um, I kinda have a hunch,” I said.
“Great. Let me hear it,” he said.
“Actually, I’ll have to get back to you on that. Tell Hayden I said for her to get better,” I said. And I walked out. I fished for my cell phone in my cluttered purse. When I finally found it, I pushed 2. I had John as my speed dial.
“Hello?” he said.
“Hey, it’s me. Can you pick me up at the hospital? I need to go to grandma’s,” I said.
“Ok,” he said and hung up. That’s something I love about John. He never asks questions, he just does what I tell him to do.
When John showed up, I hopped in his truck.
“So why were you at the hospital?” he said.
NOW he asks me.
“Long story,” I said.
“I got time,” he said.
“Well, Hayden kinda got shocked,” I said.
“Why? I mean, how?” he said.
"Ok, you know how Brad kissed me?" I asked.
"Wait. He kissed you? When?" he asked.
"Don't you remember? I got out of the truck and then I told you," I explained.
"Oh. THAT'S what you said," he said.
"Yea. What did you think I said?" I asked.
"Um, nothing. But we're here," he said.
“Could you stay in the car this time? I have some private things to discuss with my grandma,” I said.
He chuckled. "Ok," he said.
John’s P.O.V
When Tiffany said she had some ‘private things to discuss with her grandma’, I couldn’t help but laugh. What could she possibly talk about with her grandma that was so private? I couldn’t figure it out so I just sat in the car and thought about what Tiffany told me. Brad kissed her. Brad? Her ex? He was so mad when he found out that we almost kissed and now he wants her back. Well too bad. He can’t have her. Brad makes me so mad. I’m gonna kill him. I’m seriously gonna kill him.
Hey! Hopefully it's long enough for you guys. I'm leaving tomorrow to go to New Mexico so I kinda wrote this in a rush. I also decided to put John's point of view in here. Hope you like it!
