Chapter Two

Well, if you’ve seen a lot of werewolf movies, then you probably think that you’re an expert on them. Well, you’re not. So don’t even try to act like one. Because those are just movies. Most of the stuff they tell you, aren’t even close to the truth. Like for instance, that werewolves only change on a full moon. In the real world, they change when they get mad. Which wasn’t very helpful when I went to Brad’s church.

He’s a Presbyterian and I’m a Baptist so my parents didn’t really like the idea of my going to his church. But somehow, I talked them out of it. It was probably my ability to charm adults that won them over. I’m kind’ve an expert on it………………..but anyways. My parents dropped me off and I walked around the church looking for Brad. I finally spotted him over by his skater friends.

“Hey you made it,” he said when he saw me.

“What, did you think I wouldn’t come?” I asked him.

“Well, I wasn’t for sure that you would,” he said.

“Well, I’m here now,” I said.

He laughed. “That’s true,” he said.

We walked over and sat down close to the front of the church. We were sitting in silence for a little bit so it was sort’ve awkward.

“Well, I’m going to get us some drinks,” Brad said.

I had no idea that they served drinks at his church but I didn’t argue. I told him ok and he went to the back of the room. And it was just my luck when John decided to come over and talk to me.

“Hi,” John said.

“Hi,” I said, rolling my eyes.

“I knew you would finally come to my church,” he said.

“For your information John, I came here with Brad. Not you. So leave me alone before I kick you in the place you don’t want to be kicked,” I said, with a mean look on my face.

Ok, now before I get into anything more, let me explain why I was acting like a complete……………….well, you know the word I mean. John is a jock and he’s the captain of the football team. Ever since middle school, he’s always wanted me to go out with him but I’ve always told him no. And apparently, he doesn’t like to be told no. So he never gives up. But he thinks he’s all that and he’s SOOO obnoxious. So now, you know why I acted like I did. And I’m not through with this silly conversation either.

“You’re so cute when you’re mad,” John said. And he’s STILL smiling.

“And you’ll be even cuter with a black eye,” I said. I chose that time to stand up. And I wasn’t very intimidating since I was barely 5 feet tall. But I took some karate when I was little so I know just where to kick a man. Or, in this case, a boy.

“Awww. Aren’t you frightening? But I just wanted to let you know that I have a surprise for you tonight,” he said.

“Like I would want anything from you,” I said.

“Believe me, you’ll want the surprise,” he said, and still smiling, he walked away.

Fuming with anger, I sat back down. And then Brad came back.

“Here’s your drink. It’s lemonade,” he said.

“Thanks,” I said, taking it from him.

“So what did lover boy want?” he asked, referring to John.

“Um, nothing really. He was just being a jerk. Like usual,” I said.

“Ok then,” he said.

The rest of the night went fairly well. It was a lot different from my church. We watched a lot of videos that the youth director made and then we played a game outside. After that, we went back inside and sat down. Then the youth director walked up to the podium.

“Hello everyone. I hope you’re having a wonderful night. I see that we have some new faces here,” he said, looking at me. I blushed. He continued, “And I’d like to close the night with a very powerful song, sung by none other than, John King,” The audience politely clapped.

I couldn’t help but roll my eyes.

John came to the front. I noticed that he had a guitar. I rolled my eyes again. (I do that a lot) “Thank you,” he said. “I’d like to dedicate my song to Tiffany Jones. I love her very much and I hope she likes my surprise,”

I choked on my lemonade. I couldn’t believe it. John was really going to sing NOW? When I was here with Brad, who’s my boyfriend? I looked at Brad. He was as shocked as I was.

Then John started to play. I was still really mad…………until John started singing. He had a really beautiful voice. I couldn’t help but smile at him. He smiled back at me. It was going great too. That is, until Brad started getting really angry.

He started shaking, and that’s one of the first things that happens when the transformation begins.

“Brad, calm down,” I said.

But it didn’t help. His eyes changed from green to black, his teeth got very sharp, his nails grew ten times longer, he started to get fur all over his body, and then his clothes ripped. He growled, then lunged at John, who was standing with his mouth hanging open…………..

Now let me stop myself again. You think that Brad is going to kill John and that’ll be the end of this book right? Well you’re wrong. Because as much as I hate John, I actually saved his life.

As soon as Brad leaped in the air, I concentrated, and stopped the clock.

Yup, that’s right. I stopped the clock. With my mind powers. Did I forget to mention that? I did? Oops. My bad. But yea, I have these special powers that I’m just now developing. I already know that I can stop, speed up, and reverse time. And I know that I cannot fly. Believe me, I’ve tried. It makes me mad but I learn to deal without that power.

So I stopped the clock. I looked at everyone around me. I looked at John who was cowering on the ground, I looked at everyone in the church who looked like they were about to pee in their pants, and I looked at Brad, my boyfriend, who really wanted to have John for a meal. I sighed, and reversed time about 30 minutes.

“Here’s your drink. It’s lemonade,” Brad was saying.

The thing about doing the whole ‘time’ thing is that it takes a lot out of me and it takes me a while to focus on what’s going on.

“Huh?” I said.

“Your lemonade,” he said, handing it to me.

“Oh. Thanks,” I said.

“Hey are you ok?” Brad asked me.

“Um, actually, I’m not feeling all that well. Can you take me home?” I asked him.

“But we just got here,” he said.

“Please?” I said. I gave him the puppy dog eyes. The same eyes I use on my parents.

“Ok,” he said. I could tell that he was disappointed though. But I did NOT want him to change into a werewolf and have John as a meal. No matter HOW much I hated him.

So after his parents dropped me off, I went straight to my room and plopped down on my bed. I sighed.

“Man it is SO hard having a werewolf boyfriend,” I said out loud to no one in particular.
