Chapter Eleven

Later that day, I was walking to English with Kira. We walked by Brad and suddenly I heard someone’s thoughts in my head. But they weren’t MINE!

“I still really love her,” The voice was saying, “Why did I have to break up with her?”

I stopped walking.

“Tiffany, are you alright?” Kira asked me.

“Don’t you hear that?” I asked her.

“Hear what?” she said.

“A voice. Do you hear a voice?” I asked her.

“Um yea I hear a lot of voices. We’re in a busy hallway at school. What do you expect?” she said.

“No. I mean, I hear another voice. It’s really loud and it sounds like it’s right in my head,” I said.

Suddenly I heard it again.

“Tiffany I’m so sorry I broke up with you. I know you’re really sorry about what happened with you and John. It was a big mistake that I made. Please forgive me. TAKE ME BACK!” The voice said.

I suddenly knew whose voice that was.

“It’s Brad,” I said out loud.

“What about him?” she asked me.

“I can hear his voice,” I said.

She looked around.

“We’re the only ones in the hallway now, Tiffany,” she said.

I looked around and sure enough, everybody was gone. It’s surprising how fast everyone goes to their classes when the bell rings.

And I heard it again.

“Tiffany, I love you,” Brad said.

“Whoa. Ok,” I said.

“What?” Hayden asked.

“Um, nothing. Let’s just go to class,” I said.

“Wait. Was it a new power or something?” she asked me.

“I don’t know. Usually my powers only have to do with time. But now, I guess I can read minds,” I said.

“Oh cool!” Kira said. “What number am I thinking of between 1 and 10?”

I tried to concentrate with all my might. And nothing. I couldn’t hear a thing.

“Um, 6?” I asked.

“No. 4. Hmm, maybe your power went away. Like it was a one time thing,” she said.

“Maybe,” I said.

But I wasn’t so sure.

I was still puzzled about it when I finally walked in to class.
