Chapter Thirty-Four

Kira pulled up in front of my house.

“Wait. Let me guess…………we’re going to walk up to my house, I’m going to open the door, and everyone’s gonna jump out and yell surprise,” I said.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Kira said.

“Mmhmm,” I said. I got the keys out, opened the door and everybody jumped out of hiding places.

“Surprise!” Everyone shouted.

“So, they wouldn’t yell surprise would they?” I asked Kira.

“Oh, you KNOW I couldn’t tell you,” she said. I walked in and everybody came up and hugged me.

“Happy birthday, Tiffany,” Hayden said.

“Thanks,” I told her.

“Yea, what she said,” Eric said, coming up behind her.

“Wait. Let me see if I have this figured out. Kira took me on a shopping spree so everybody could decorate the house for the party,” I said.

“Pretty much,” Kira said.

“And I forgot about the party. Which was what Kira was talking about when she told me to go to the barber,” Eric said.

“Yea, I had no clue who he was. Um, someone just texted me last night when I was on the phone with you and told me to take you shopping. He told me who all was supposed to be here. And of course, Eric’s name came up,” Kira explained.

“So, whose idea was it to have the party in the 1st place?” I asked. I looked at Hayden.

“Nope. Honestly, I forgot when your birthday was,” she said, her face turning red. I looked at Eric.

“Don’t look at me. I just figured out when your birthday was yesterday,” he said.

“My mom?” I asked.

“No,” she said, walking up behind me. “I thought it was too much trouble but your friends talked me into it,”

“Who then?” I asked everybody.

“Me,” I heard someone say. I saw him come out of a crowd of people on crutches and gasped.

“John?” I asked.

“That’s my name. Don’t wear it out,” he said. I started to throw my arms around him, but paused.

“You know you can hug me right? You’re a werewolf now. The imprint is off,” he said.

I sighed in relief. “Sorry. Force of habit,” I hugged him tight. “You know, you really didn’t have to do all of this. It’s not like I’m turning 16,”

“That’s what I said!” Eric chimed in.

“I don’t care. You only turn 15 once right?” he said. I smiled up at him. “But how is it possible that you’re here?” I asked.

“The doctor told me that all I had was a broken leg. He said it wasn’t as bad as everyone had thought,” he explained.

“All this was your idea?” I clarified.

“Yep. Everything. The party, the shopping spree…..although I must say, it looks like Kira went a little overboard,” he said, looking at my dress.

“I wanted her to look nice. Is that too much to ask?” Kira crossed her arms and sat down with a sigh.

“I’m not saying you did a bad thing,” he turned to me. “You look wonderful,” he said.

“Aww. Thanks,” I told him. I hugged him again.

“Ok, lovebirds,” mom said. “Tiffany, you haven’t seen the best part. Follow me,” she started walking down the hallway. I followed her and she stopped to the doorway to my room.

“Are you ready?” she asked me. I nodded and she opened the door. At first, I didn’t notice anything, but when I looked to the left, I screamed. Everyone ran to my room to see what was going on.

“Is someone hurt?” Eric said.

“No. I’m sorry. I got a little out of control. Look!” I said. I pointed to the wall. Right above my bed, was a 42 inch flat-screen TV. “That’s even bigger than my other one!” I said excitedly.

“You’re welcome honey,” mom said.

“Thank you!” I said.

“Well, I wanted you to have an amazing present,” she said.

“Oh, I get it. The Hannah Montana jacket was just a ploy to get me to believe that I wouldn’t get an amazing present. Thank GOD!” I said.

“Um, actually, that was a real present,” mom said.

“Oops,” I said.

“By the way, where IS your jacket? I didn’t see you come in with it,” mom said.

“Uhhhh………..” I was speechless.

“I have it Mrs. Jones,” Eric said. “I was holding it for her so she wouldn’t lose it,”

“Well then, where is it?” mom asked. Please have a good excuse Eric, I said to myself.

“It’s in my car. I’ll go get it,” he walked past me, giving me a big smile before he walked out of the room. I heaved a big sigh of relief.

“You’re lucky,” Kira whispered in my ear.

“You can say that again,” I said.

“You’re lucky,” she repeated.

“Thank you, Kira,” I said sarcastically.

“You’re welcome,” she said with a big smile. Sometimes I wonder about her, I said to myself.
