Chapter Seven
Later that day, I was in Algebra, which I have with Brad AND John. It’s really awesome! (Not really) I sat down at my assigned seat. I was sitting there waiting for the bell to ring when I saw Brad walk in.
“Hey Brad!” I said.
And nothing.
He was clearing ignoring me.
The rest of the period, I zoned out. I was too busy thinking about my boy dilemma. My teacher, Mr. Livingstone (I know. Weird name) called my name repeatedly. It wasn’t a very fun class. I was so zoned out that I didn’t even realize that the bell rang until someone had to point it out to me.
Nope, not Brad. John.
“Hey. Tiffany. Yoo-hoo! Anybody in there?” he said.
“Huh? Oh. Hi, John,” I said.
“You do realize that the bell rang right?” he said.
“Of course. I knew that,” I lied.
“Then why weren’t you moving? You were sitting there like you were a zombie,” he said.
“I’m sorry. It’s just the whole thing with Brad is really getting to me,” I said.
“Oh. Yea, I know how you feel,” he said.
“You do?” I asked him.
“Yea, I mean girls have dumped me before,” he said.
“Whoa. Wait. Hold it. What?” I said.
He didn’t get to answer. We were so busy talking that I forgot we were still in the classroom.
“Um, excuse me? Are you two done here?” Mr. Livingstone said.
I grabbed John’s hand.
“I have some paperwork……” Mr. Livingstone didn’t get to finish.
Cause I stopped the clock with my brilliant powers.
“Whoa. What did you just do?” John asked me.
“I stopped the clock. I already told you I could do that,” I said.
“Yea, but I didn’t actually BELIEVE you!” he exclaimed.
“You said you did!” I said.
“I lied. Guys lie all the time. You should know that by now,” he said.
He had a point.
“Ok, ok. Are you ok now?” I asked him.
“Yea, just one question,” he said.
“And that is?” I said.
“How is everything else frozen but us?” he said.
“Oh, you see whatever I’m touching at the time, doesn’t get frozen. That’s why I grabbed your hand. So you wouldn’t get stopped like everything else,” I explained.
“Oh. THAT’S why you grabbed my hand,” he said.
He was blushing.
“Um, yea. Ok. Anyway, back to our conversation. What were you talking about?” I said.
“What were YOU talking about?” he said.
“I was talking about how Brad is avoiding me,” I said.
“Well, yea, cause he dumped you,” he said.
“Why does everyone think that? No he didn’t!” I said.
“He didn’t?” he said.
“NO!” I said.
“Are you sure?” he asked.
“John, I think I would know if he broke up with me or not!” I said.
“Oh. Right. Well, since he DIDN’T break up with you, you might wanna ignore the note in your locker,” he said.
“What note?” I asked.
What was he talking about?
“The note where I asked….” He paused. “you if you….were talking…. to… Brad,” he finished.
“Um, ok. I will ignore that note,” I said.
“Ok. Um, gotta go. Bye!” he said.
And he ran out the door.
I was about to follow him when I remembered what I had to do.
I sighed.
I walked out the door, turned around, and quickly unfroze the time.
“……to do. So could you please leave?” Mr. Livingstone was saying.
He looked around.
“Where in the world did they go?” he said out loud.
“I must be losing it,” he said, going back to his desk.
It was really hard not to laugh at that.
Sometimes having brilliant powers….is downright awesome.
