Ugghh! I want to get this story done! I have another idea for a new story and I really want to get started on it, but I promised myself I wouldn't start another book until I uploaded all of this one. I'm not going to give too much away, just that this other book is a completely different story and it has to do with zombies. I also have another story in mind. A love story about this girl that is in love with her best guy friend. It's really a typical romance story, but it's different because it's actually true. Haha. Anyway, here's the next chappy. :)
Chapter Thirty-Six
The next morning at school, I was walking with John to our 1st period class. He was getting a lot of sympathy for his broken leg.
“Hey, John. What happened to your leg?” was the normal question people kept asking him. It was starting to get annoying. It was the 6th time someone asked him that that day, when I just had had enough. I walked away, leaving John and one of the football players alone. When John came in the classroom a few minutes later, he walked over to me.
“Hey, where’d you go?” he asked me.
“I came in the classroom, where we’re supposed to be,” I said.
“What’s wrong?” he asked.
“I don’t know. It’s just, you’re getting all this attention and it’s just annoying the crap outta me,” I said.
He smiled. “Someone’s jealous,” he teased me.
“I’m not jealous,” I said.
“Yes, you are. You’re jealous,” he said.
“Whatever,” I said. Then the teacher walked in the classroom and everyone shut up.
“Now, class we’re going to start our new unit so if you could please pass your homework to the front of the class, we can get started,” he looked around the room and spotted me. “Oh, Tiffany, nice to see you again. By the way, the principal would like to see you,”
“Ooohhh,” everyone said. I gathered my stuff and stood up. John grabbed my arm.
“What did you do?” he asked me.
“I have no idea,” I said. I walked out the door and into the principal’s office for the first time in my entire life.
I looked around the room and the secretary told me to have a seat in one of the chairs to wait for the principal. I was really nervous. I was sweating like a pig and I was shivering. 5 minutes later, the principal walked in.
“Ahh, Tiffany Jones, I see you’ve made it back to class. How have you been doing?” he asked me.
“Um, good,” I said.
“Well, Ms. Jones, if you’re so good, why have you missed 2 weeks of school?” he asked me. Ahh, so it was a trick question, I said to myself. I can work with that.
“Mr. Fredrickson, I HAVE been sick the past 2 weeks. I had strep throat. And I believe you asked me how was I TODAY, and today, I’m good, considering I’m at school,” I said.
“Very well,” he said. “Now, does your mom know you were sick?”
“I believe she does,” I said.
“So you wouldn’t mind if I called her up here and asked her myself?” he asked me. Well, the key thing to lying is to act like you’re not in case they’re only bluffing. So that’s what I did.
“No, I wouldn’t mind at all,” I told him.
“Ok. Let me just get your mom on the phone,” he said. Crap, he wasn’t bluffing, I said to myself.
