Prologue

My name is Ekiria (eh • ky • ria) and I am considered 'Royalty'. You see I am, what other dragons call, a Great Dragoness. Pretty much all of dragon-kind is male. But once in a very, very long while. There is an egg that is destined to be a female.

Now this only happens maybe once every thousand years or so, so it's a pretty big deal. Only female dragons can carry and hatch an egg. But a female dragon is already destined to be a Great Dragoness by blood. And to which they are only aloud to mate with a Great Dragon to be.

I think this law is out of sorts and down right stupid. We should be aloud to marry whomever we wish. It's foul and we female dragons are greatly underestimated by the larger male population. It reminds me much of humans...

Humans are a young species... And they the existence of dragons has fallen to their myths and legends. I suspect it's a great thing, considering that our kind used to be hunted down and slain by mankind. Yet all of the Wise Elder Dragons (I call them The elders for short) think that mankind is still a threat. We take up human avatars and blend in with them, to figure out more information.

Every dragon has the ability to do this, and almost every dragon is permitted to go beyond our realm into their world. Pretty much every dragon but the younglings, the elders, and the females. Again, it's not fair one bit. But I suppose that it's 'for our own safety, at least that's what the Elders tells us. I personally think it's to 'keep the line safe'. It's not like dragons can just have a child whenever we want, it's not that simple I'm afraid.
