Chapter Twenty ~ Things Change
It was a new day, the sun was peaking out over the horizon beautifully as I walked to the clearing, Raz to her left, and Jeremy to her right. The day before felt like it was a million years ago, even if it was just yesterday. I know what's coming next, one of the elders will come. I am ready for my punishment, I did what I had to do to protect the one I loved.
As we stopped by the lake, I looked up at the sky. I will soon be with my ancestors, up as one of the stars in the sky. Even if the sky in the human realm isn't the same as in the dragon realm, the familiar faint twinkle of stars above glistened in the early morning sky.
"I'm going to leave you two alone for a bit, since this is the last time you will see each other." Raz said, he began walking off in another direction, towards the woods. This might be the perfect time to say what's on my mind.
I turned around, so I was facing Jeremy. He looked tired and worn out, yesterday must have been a lot on him.
When Sabas awoke, he ran off into the woods. He won't last long as a human, he will die slowly since he does not know how to care for himself.
"I guess this is the last time we get to really talk..." Jeremy said quietly. Is he going to miss me?
"Yeah. It's been fun." I stated sadly, sitting down in the damp grass and sticking my feet into the lake.
"Will I ever get to see you again?"
"Maybe." I lied. "if I ever become an elder, I will see to it that females can come and go from the human realm and dragon realm as we please." If I even survive that long...
"Promise?"
"I'm sorry?"
"Do you promise?"
"... I promise."
We stayed quiet for a few moments, before he pulled me in close to him and hugged me, and of course, I hugged him back.
"You can't break that promise." he whispered.
"She won't." A familiar voice said. What?
I let go of Jeremy and looked around, searching for her. She walked through the trees, not 10 feet away.
"Jazix? What are you doing here?" I asked, when she got closer to us.
"I have good news. We have agreed, there is no bound for your love for this boy Ekiria. When you think about him, I can feel it. It makes me happy, it makes my scales rattle with pleasure. I was hoping I reached you before Sabas got here, and I am in luck!" Jazix said. Wait.. agreed on what?
"Sabas came.. he was here yesterday." Raz said, as he walked towards our group of 3.
"Where is he now?" She asked.
"He cannot morph back into a dragon. Kia took that away from him."
"You what?!" She exclaimed.
"I cast a spell on him, and it took away his ability to change back." I said darkly.
"No one but the mother dragon had that ability.." she gaped. "You... You are a true hatchling of Gaia!"
"Gaia existed before the earth was even created, when the dragons roamed through the out world. How can I possibly be a true hatchling of Gaia, especially when I am half dark dragon?" I asked.
"Gaia was the creator of earth, she is the spirit that connects our two realms. She is not good, and not evil. She holds the power to take away a form and also give it."
"I thought she was all good?"
"No, she created this world knowing that nothin can be perfect. She took the darkness inside of her, her aura, and sent it forth to create new dragons, dark dragons. We are all children of Gaia."
"Sorry to interrupt the history lesson, but you earlier you had said that you had agreed on something... What exactly did you agree on?" Jeremy blurted out.
"Oh yes!" Jazix exclaimed. "Ekiria, my hatchling. We have agreed that you and other females can now come and go as you please between the realms!"
"What?!?" I blurted out. This was amazing news! But wait.. I want to share my life with Jeremy, I want him to know where I come from.
If I am a true hatchling of Gaia, I have the power to take away the power to morph. But, can I give that power as well? There is something saying I can, I have to try.
