Chapter Thirteen ~ Jazix Reveals
We were back in the Dragon Realm, and it was still raining. I thought Raz said it stopped raining and everyone was looking? I haven't seen his since we were back in the mortal realm.. And that was days ago.
I currently walked along the rocky beach of Mularinia, which was home to the mermaids. Mermaids are the beautiful maidens of human folklore, that could sing an ogre to sleep.
They were right about the singing, but the beautiful maiden part not so much... Mularinia is a dangerous place, for if you veer off too close to the water, the mermaids would coax you towards the water with their beautiful singing, and they would create an illusion that a loved one was calling out to you from below the water.
For any smaller creature, they would not dare venture into the water. But dragons are feared by the mermaids, and mermaids never coax a dragon, for it is forbidden.
The waved crashed against the rocks and I flew up to the highest cliff, hoping to see something interesting. The clouds were low, and all I could see was ocean. Pitch black ocean.
Every creature was hiding from the rain, except maybe the water gnomes and pond fairies... I hardly ever took walks in the dragon realm, because I usually see too many other dragons flying, or walking along the paths. But now, in the rain, was a perfect time.
I didn't even go home.. I have just been walking and wondering around the realm. I can't get my thoughts away from Jeremy.. Was he scared of us? Was he scared of ME? "No.." I whispered.
He said he didn't believe in mythical creatures and magical objects. I just can't get his expression out of my mind.. The hurt and horror in his features... But his eyes were full of wonder.. If I was to return once more would he be disgusted with me?
I heard a pair of wings flutter above my head, and I looked up, hoping to see Raz. But no... It was the Elder Dragon Jazix, with her light violet scales and semi-feathered wings. Her wings were like no others.. The were feathered, and webbed at the same time. Most dragons had either webbed bat-like wings, or feathered wings. Never had a dragon gained both.
"You are in great trouble Ekiria. You went to the human realm, which you know is forbidden." She said. I lowered my head in shame.. Of course I knew it was forbidden!
"Why did you not come and get me? I was there for quite a while."
"I am the only one who knows Ekiria.. And I do not plan in telling the others." She said. Wait... What? An elder dragon...not telling the other elders about a breaking of rules?
"Why not?" I asked.
"Becuase, I am to tell you of something I have never told another living soul... You are not Malena's hatchling." She said. I stepped back in surprise. Malena is my mother.. Is she not? If Malena is not my mother.. Then who is? "You are MY hatching Ekiria.
"I placed you in Malena's nest, for it was forbidden for an Elder to hatch another egg.. And you were half dark dragon as well. I protected myself, as well as protected you. That is how I knew you left. A mother and her hatchling are bonded forever, the mother can tell whether her hatchling is in the same realm or not."
This was hard to take in... So.. I am the daughter of Jazix? The Elder Dragon of beauty? "Why am I like this?" I asked. "Why am I not a normal dragon? I have while scales and I'm half dark dragon! Do you see anything wrong with having white scales?!' I screamed at her. "It means I am weak! I am lost and weak!"
"You are many things, but you are not weak!" She yelled back. I looked at her with disgust.
"THEN WHAT AM I!" I finally yelled at her. Tears came down my scales, and I cried. I turned around and walked towards the edge of the cliff. "What am I..." I whispered.
