Chapter Five ~ Story

We walked back to a big house, not bigger than what I have seen, but still pretty big for a human house. It had a teal color on the outside and a white railing going around it. There stood stairs leading up to a deck with a cover over top of it. It seems pretty nice... When we entered the house I was completely in awe. There were fantastical creatures pinned up on the walls and frozen in strange poses holding strange things.

"Sorry about all this... My sister is kind of a freak when it comes to mythology." He said casually. I stared in disbelief at all of the poor souls that have been trapped in this household...

"Why would you allow this? This is a tragedy!" I nearly shouted. He looked back a me as if I was crazy.

"They aren't real.. None of these creatures are real. They are all make believe." He said. His words were like a punch in the face. There was a small clay dragon that very much resembled the Elder Dragon Lythe. I picked it up gently and stoked his scales.

"You don't believe in these things do you?" I asked. He shook his head and leaned against the doorway. I sighed and continued stoking Lythes scales. "Where I come from, Dragons and 'mythical' creatures are as real as the night and day. But to human eyes, they choose not to be seen. All these creatures have fallen to mans myths and legends, which is good, but also bad.

"Every single one of the creatures exists. But no human can see them. You have to believe, and have the magik to be able to see them. If you were not born with the small amount of magik needed, then it is a sad day. Back in ancient times of the earth when Shamen were still believed to be a gateway to the mythical world as they knew it.

"But man grew greedy for the magik of the Shamen. Man wanted the superior beings to give them the ability to see all the creatures and spirits, but they refused. The Shamen saw hatred in mans heart. Man only wanted to truly see so they could hunt the creatures down and make them trophies.

"So the rest of the Shamen, all agreed to go into hiding. They still walk the earth, but they can change form. One form being the form of a dragon, their TRUE form.

"You are wondering why I'm telling you this correct?" I finished and asked him. He nodded and I continued, "I am telling you because you do not see what I see. You see just a lump of clay that no one believes exists and is just for decoration. That is not what this is. This shows disrespect for all the magical creatures that are here. They are being made fun of." I finished.

"You really believe that all these things exist? It's scientifically impossible." He stated. I sighed at his ignorance and held up the miniature version on Lythe.

"This is a Great Elder Dragon. His name is Lythe. He is the eldest and most wise of the three elders." I stated. I brought Lythe down and gently put him down in his exact spot, and I gave his scales one last stroke. "There are so many things that you don't realize are true."

"Okay, let's say that all of this you're saying is true, which it isn't... But if it was, then why haven't I ever met one of these dragon shape shifters hmm?"

I sighed again. "You have. You just do not know it." I regretted telling him this after the words escaped my mouth.

"How do you know hm? How do you know that I've met one?" He asked. His ignorance was unbearable... But I had a feeling deep down again... I did not want to leave him... He seemed sweet and I guess I understand why he does not believe me. He has lived his whole life believing that the creatures of myth were just that.. Creatures of myth and legend and folklore. I wish I could just tell him everything...
