Chapter Fifteen ~ Attack

I walked towards the Elder Temple, my head high and my senses sharp. I knew I was in trouble, Jazix must have told them, or they must have found out. I walked up the familiar marble white steps and into the temple, the white walls enclosing the large room, with the small spring water boiling hot. The water rests on nothing but the Elder's moods, so I immediately knew I was in deep trouble.

"Ekiria, hatched and raised to be a great dragon, you have mislead us to believe in your goodness. We now understand that we made the mistake of not executing you when we first had the chance." Said Ith. I winced back, and my wings instinctively closed tightly on my back.

"Calm your temper Ith, she is young and she knows what she has done was wrong." Said Lythe. I sighed, knowing that Lythe will jus give me a scolding and set me to go. But he turned to me, high on his rock, and glared. The unforgiving features of betrayal, and disappointment. "However, you were careless and thoughtless, and your actions must not go unpunished. You say you do not with to be a great dragon, so tomorrow you will begin the transformation ritual. You will be a great dragon before the end of this spin, and you will be forever bonded to this realm, therefore never being able to return to the human realm again."

I blinked at him, and my heart sunk. Not ever go back? "Please.. There must be another way..." I said. Ith looked down at me with observing eyes and he gasped, then his face turned with anger.

"She loves a human! She has broken tradition!" He screamed, I winced again from the power in his voice. I bowed my head and I felt my scales start to shake.

"You. You have already caused much pain in my heart young one... But love a human? He must be destroyed.. I can see it in your eyes and in your soul that he knows of our kind. No one must know of our kind, he but be executed." Lythe said darkly. My head perked up and I started at him with horror.

"No! You cannot do that! You mustn't! You cannot kill him!" I screeched, Jazix walked into the room an flew up to her usual place on the high marble rock. "Jazix you must tell them! They cannot kill the one I love!" I screamed. She looked down at me with sadness.

"I am sorry my child, I cannot. You must not be allowed to see him again, and he knows too much. He must be executed." She said strongly, with the power of many strong dragon warriors in her voice.

I gaped up at them with disbelief. This could absolutely just not be happening... "No.. This is my mistake.. Not his.. Destroy me if you must, but please leave him be!" I begged. I lay down on the hard marble ground and started to whimper. I hated being like this... Sad and weak and crying...

"It is done. Now leave. Our warriors will leave tomorrow at dawn." Ith said darkly. I walked out of the temple, but not before giving Jazix a death glare. There has to e another way.. I can't just leave him to die. I just can't..
