Chapter Twenty-One ~ A Greater Dragon
I walked out from the dark corner of the stadium, my friends, or rather friend, waved at me from the audience. The huge white columns towered above my head, just as the elders den. The three of the oldest and wisest dragons stood where I was heading, all three with their claws on the Book of Dragons. Ith scowled down at me, just as he always does. Lythe had a thoughtful expression, but he smiled. And Jazix? Jazix was the one whom you could tell was proud. She had the smile that could light a dark passageway in the midst of a dark moon.
I continued walking, ignoring the scowls and coughs of unapproval from my fellow dragon brothers and sisters. It was obvious enough that no one ever thought I would ever live up to be a great dragon. I was always 'destined for disgrace', at least that's what everyone thought of me. The Elders were the only ones that saw me as a wonder, that is why I am still here today.
As for everyone else, they can just suck it up and deal with it. I won't be in this awful realm for more than two days time.
I stopped walking, taking my place in line standing next to my brothers who will be receiving their dragon blessings. I will be the last to approach the elders, since I am the only one that has already received my blessings, and I will be becoming a great dragon. Rao steps forward, as the elders begin chanting the incarnation. The book of dragons begins to glow, and Rao closes his eyes and steps into the aura, becoming one with the book. The light turns blue, a signal of hope and approval, then the aura is released to the sky above us, to have Rao's aura become one with our ancestors. Something that has not happened in a long time would be for the aura to turn a dark purple, symbolizing darkness. If that happened, instead of the aura being reals end to the sky, the aura would turn red and begin disintegrating the dragon scale by scale until nothing is left but the isoscele.
I waited, as each dragon headed down and received his blessings, one by one down the line. There were only two ahed of me now, only minutes until I was to be checked with the ancestors to see if my blessing was still pure. One to go.
What if the ancestors to not take that my blessing is pure? If I am technically half dark dragon, won't my blessing be unpure? I'm next.
I step forward, everyone's eyes are now on me. They are watching to see if I will be accepted or not.
"Ekiria, it is a pleasure to see you standing on these sacred steps once again, is it not?" Lythe bellows out, towards the crowd. Usually the crowd will uproar in agreement, but not today. The crowd is a dead silence, not one person agreeing that I should be here. "I know you have had your troubles in this great realm Ekiria, but once you are a great dragon, you will see it all differently."
"That is of course, if the ancestors accept her aura." Ith states plainly. It's overly obvious that he is the one who want me here the least.
"Of course she will be accepted, she has done no wronging story any of us Ith, now, let us begin." Jazix closes her eyes, and begins chanting, joined by Ith and Lythe, claw in claw. The pages of the leather book begin turning, soon into a mystical array of blue aura, and it incases me inside of it.
It's like nothing I've ever seen, it was like millions of blue smoke particles were surrounding my body. Then the bright blue aura began changing color, in just a few seconds the aura was a dark purple. But it changed to a blue once more, then to purple, then to blue. Until it finally came to an end, and the aura turned to a blinding white. I could see nothing but white as it overcame me inside out.
Then. Nothing.
I opened my eyes, to see blue and purple speckles flying around us all. They seemed to be glitter, but each one glowed like stars. I turned toward the elders, to see them all awestruck, and looking at me. As I turned towards the audience, they all had the same awestruck look on their faces.
"Ekiria, congratulations, you are now a great dragoness." The elders said in unison. "Look into the spirit water below to see your mark." I followed their instruction, and peered over the white stone, into the darkness of the water below. The water begun to glow, and the darkness disappeared, leaving me with my reflection in the water. In awe, it looked over my facial features, my scales were whiter than they have ever been. My eyes were glowing brighter than the sun, and across my right eye, there were three tear drop scars, just under my eye.
"Your markings show that yes, you have cried, but with each tear you have grown stronger. Your mark is the marking of hope. Congratulations Ekiria." The elders finished in unison, then the book closed gently, and they were released from each other's grip.
The audience stayed silent, and I searched for my friend. There, amongst the rest, was Raziel. His face was illuminated with the biggest smile he was ever made, and he nodded in approval. This was all thanks to you, I thought to myself. It was all thanks to Raz. He kept me hoping.

I awoke in the darkness of my den, just like any other day. But today, today was the day I was leaving. I'm leaving this horrid place forever. The dragon realm has never been my home, no where is my home. And I want to share that nowhere with the one I love. Jeremy.
I will ask him if that is what he wants. I can give him the power, but it will always be in his hands weather he wants that choice or not. He doesn't know I can give him the power, so when he knows will he take it?
"Are you ready?"
"Raz, you really don't need to take me to the portal. Ie made the trip on my own." I say, turning around to see a sullen looking Raziel behind me.
"I don't care, today may be the last day I'm going to see my best friend, I'm taking her to the portal no matter what"
"It won't be the last time you see me Raz, you can always visit me in the human world."
"I know. This will be the last time I'll see you as a dragon Ekiria." He walked towards me and entangled his tail in mine. "Let me just take a mental note of you."
"Let's get going, I want to be in the human world before daylight hits." I say saidly. I release my tail from his and walk out the door. The green forest by my den will always be in my heart, but it's time for something new. Ii take to the skies, Raz right behind me.
Goodbye Dragon Realm.
