Chapter Seven ~ Old Friend
We walked up another set of stairs towards another big house. It seemed a bit less 'fancy' than Jeremy's home... But it still had a very proper feel to it. Jeremy quickly walked up the stairs and pushed a small button by the door. It let off a loud ring that came from inside the house, and a few moments later another human opened the door to us.
"There you are! Oh.. And who is this fine looking lady?" He said as he saw me. I looked at him and gave him a friendly smile. "You never told me you got a girlfriend Jeremy!" He stated while looking at me. Then he leaned in close to Jeremy's ear and whispered, "And she is hot too..." I took a small step backward, because I am pretty sure I wasn't supposed to hear that...
What did he mean by hot? My temperature wasn't rising was it? I put two fingers behind my ear... No... Sure my body temperature was higher than most humans... But others shouldn't be able to feel it unless they were right up against my body...
"S-she isn't my girlfriend Tony..." He stuttered. "She's just a friend... She is staying with me at my house and I didn't want to leave her alone with Scarrlet.. You know how bad that could be.. Is it okay if she joins us tonight?" He asked. The human called Tony eyed me up and down and then nodded.
Tony seemed to be a very overconfident person. He had a very bold build, and he had a few muscles.. But it wasn't exactly something to brag about...
"Sure Jeremy. Come on in... Delilah is on the couch playing CoD just like she usually is..." He said as he opened the door wider for us to walk past. Jeremy motioned for me to go first, so I complied and walked into the house.
This home seemed more like the ones described in the books... There was a 'leather' sofa, small glass tables, a large screen with moving pictures and sounds, pictures on the walls, etcetera etcetera...
"Ethan is on his way too. He should be here so-" Tony got cut off by the loud ringing noise and he nodded and went and opened the door. A tall, somewhat muscular, tanned skinned human stood there with a large smile on his face. He seemed very familar... Where have I seen him from?
"Ethan!! Hey man what's going on?" Jeremy said as he walked over to him and they shook hands and then gave each other a half hug.
"How many times do I have to tell you guys man? It's Etan.. Not Ethan." He said. And that's when it hit me... Etan... It couldn't be him? This could not be the same dragon that I had almost mated with when we were younger... It just couldn't...
"Sorry man.. But hey, I want you to meet my new friend Ekiria.." Jeremy said as he grabbed my hand and gently guided me towards Etan. I sheepishly nodded.
"Splendid to meet you." I said quietly. As soon as Jeremy said my name Etan froze in place and stared at me. He snapped himself out of it before anyone noticed and just looked at me with disbelief.
"Ekiria? As in the Ekiria that umm..." He started but then trailed off. I nodded and looked to the ground.
"Whoa whoa whoa... You two know each other?" Tony asked. I nodded at the same time as Etan said yes.
"Yes... We were... In school together. And actually... Kia can I talk to you out on the porch for a minute?" He asked, but instead he just grabbed my hand and pulled me towards him. "We'll be right in you guys... Umm... We might go for a short walk to catch up, but we will be in soon." He said as he dragged me outside the house and down the steps. I smiled apologetically to Jeremy and unwillingly went with Etan.
We walked on the sidewalk in silence for a few moments before he began to speak. "What the hell are you doing in the mortal realm Ekiria? You know it's forbidden for a female to be here." He said with a scowl on his face.
"You know me... I never wanted to be a great dragon... And once I finish my training, and become one, I might never have a chance again. It was storming outside when I left my den. So I took the opportunity and snuck into the portal and came here." I said. He stopped walking and I did the same.
"You have no idea how much I've been thinking of you for the past spins... The spins here are much longer so you aged quicker. But if I was ever to return to the dragon realm, we would be of same age once again just as we are here."
"Then why did you never return Etan? You were one of my closest friends besides Raziel."
"I was banished. I broke the rules by us almost becoming mates.. For I was not to be a great dragon and you and Raziel were destined to be mates. But I'm sure that they didn't punish you did they?
I shook my head. "I am so sorry..."
"You have no idea how hard it was to not see you... And to be in a realm I knew nothing about... I loved you Ekiria... I still do."
I was silent in shock for a few moments. But then I said, "I am sorry Etan... But you must understand that I do not return those feelings... I don't even have those feelings for Raz, and he is my mate.."
"So it's already official?"
"As official as it has always been... But not by the rules of Akabier."
"Oh. So all hope is lost then? For us I mean..."
"There was never a chance... My fate has already been written. I don't have a choice but to follow it."
"Then why hasn't the entire dragon army come looking for you?"
"Raziel is covering for me... Plus it must still be raining. I cast a weather spell for it to rain until I return. No dragon ever leaves its den during a storm."
"I remember... Can I do something? Would you be angry?"
"It depends on what that something is...."
"This.." He said as he grabbed my waist and pulled me closer to him. Then he brought his lips to mine and kissed me.
I admit, it was nice... But I realized what he was doing and I pushed myself away. A few tears threatened to spill from my eyes and I wrapped my arms around my body.
"You should know why that is not appropriate Etan." I stated. It began to pour rain out of nowhere because I cast a spell to make it and Etan just stood there like a love struck puppy as I began to back away from him.
"Wait no-" he began, but I ran... I ran back in the direction of the house we were at. Once I reached it, I was soaking wet, and I knocked on the door and pushed the same button that Jeremy ha pushed to make the loud noise throughout the house.
Jeremy answered the door and noticed me standing there shivering in the rain. For once, I was actually freezing... And wet...
"What the hell happened to you?" He asked as he guided me inside the house and closed the door behind us.
"I-I-I-it w-was-" he cut me off... People seen to do that a lot here...
"Sshh... Come on.. Tell me once you're dry.." He guided me up a staircase and into a small room. "Tony and Delilah went to get some pizza.. Give me a second while I call him to see where he keeps my extra clothes." He said as he draped a large light grey colored cloth around my shoulders. I nodded, I was still shivering.
He walked out of the room and then returned a few minutes later with a pile of folded clothes in his hand... This might be a problem... How the heck do I get these things on?
"Umm... How do I put these on?" I sheepishly asked. He raised an eyebrow at me. "Uh.. Nevermind.. I can figure it out.. I think."
"Um.. Okay.. Ill be out in the hallway... Go ahead and use the bathroom.. and the towel to get yourself dry... Um.. Call out to me if you need anything." He said. I nodded thankfully and he walked out and closed the door behind him. Okay... So this is what a bathroom is... Now I know what that basin is and what that chair looking thing with the hole in the middle of the seat is.. It's a bathtub and a toilet.
I put the lid down on the toilet seat and sat down and put my head in my hands. What the hell just happened outside....
