Chapter Sixteen ~ Disobey

I walked through the dark woods, I just needed to think for a bit. Tomorrow morning, they would head out to kill Jeremy. There has to be something I can do.

As I walked I noticed a small humming sound, coming from the nearby pond. When I walked towards it, a mermaid was there, humming on the shore as she splashed the water gently with her tail. She didn't look like other mermaids, she didn't have razed sharp claws, or pale skin. Oh no, she was beautiful. She had dark brown hair and tan skin, and her tail was a light pink color, along with the scales that were speckled across her body.

"Excuse me?" I said. She turned around and looked at me, her eyes were a dark green color, and they were beautiful.

"Hello! My name is Bekka.. You are?" She asked nicely. She also patted a rock next to her, and motioned for me to come sit down. I took her invitation, but I kept an eye on her. But one mermaid couldn't bring down a dragon right?

"Ekiria. If you don't mind me asking, why aren't you in the ocean with the rest of the mermaids?" I asked. She giggled, and gently slid her body into the water.

"The ocean makes mermaids blood thirsty and cruel. I am a pond mermaid. There are few ponds in this realm that are holding mermaids like me, but we only reveal ourselves to those who need us." What the heck was that supposed to mean? "What's troubling you Ekiria?"

"Well, I broke the rules and went into the human realm. There I fell in love with a human, and what is basically happening, is that the dragon elders found out. So now, they are sending a few warriors out to track him down and kill him." I explained, not wanting to do into extreme detail.

"Well why are you still here then?" She asked.

"I-I'm sorry?"

"Go to him. Be with the one you love. Nothing can keep you here, just because some old rules say so? Um, no. You can go where ever you please, it's your life, not theirs. You control it." She said. "It was very nice meeting you Ekiria, now I must rest." And within a few moments, she was gone. She went back underwater.

She's right. I can't just sit here and do nothing, but there is something I can do. I made my way back though the trails of the dark forest, and to my small den. Whatever I can pack, I might as well do it now, because there is not going to e a reason for me to come back.

As I looked around my den, I didn't see anything that I could really take, so I just left. Before I left though, I cast a rain spell. It wasn't going to be as long as before, but it would last long enough to allow me to get through the portal quickly.

"Ria? Where are you going?" I heard a familiar voice behind me say. I tuned around to face the glorious red scales, of Raz.

"I'm leaving. You can't stop me. Do you know what they want to do to him? They want to kill him Raziel! I cannot let them." I told him darkly. There was thoughts written all over his features, but he nodded. I began opening my wings, ready to take off, but Raz said something that surprised me.

"I'm coming with you."

"Then lets go." I said, not wanting to argue with him at the moment. I don't exactly want him coming, but if he wants to he better stay out of my way. I took off into the rain, Raz right behind me.

When we arrived to the portal, we easily slipped passed the guards and through the portal, just like I did last time. Raz actually help this time, because he distracted the guards. But when we were through the portal and into the mortal world, it was night time. Which I'm thinking is a good thing, so we can travel faster and we won't need to worry about being seen as much.

Raz took the lead, and we flew as quickly as we good to the clearing by Jeremy's house. It took a good few hours, but eh, whatever. By the time we got there and changed into our human form, there was a person sitting on the edge on the lake. Everything was blooming and the grass was greener from when I was last here. I walked over to the person sitting by the lake, and took a seat beside him.

"What's on your mind stranger?" I asked.

"I found out something about the girl I love. It goes against everything I believe in, but I still believe it." I heard him say. I recognized that voice anywhere. I grabbed his shoulder and turned him to face me, and there he was. His eyes all blotchy and red, and honestly, he looked like crap.

"Are you okay?" I asked. His eyes opened wide and he gasped.

"Ekiria? Is that really you?" I nodded, and before I could say anything he wrapped me in a hug, which made me laugh. When he let me go I looked at his brown hair, his brown chocolaty eyes, and his perfect face. Everything about him was just.. Amazing.

"Ahem?" Raz came up to us and sat down. He looked at me and nodded his head toward Jeremy, telling me its time.

"Jeremy, we need to talk to you. You're in danger."
