I gaze out the living room window that's faced right at the lake. I can honestly say its so beautiful. I've never really been to a place like this, even as a kid. When Calum told me he use to come here with his parents surprised me, I saw that he was too, but I'm happy he opened up to me a bit.
"What are you thinking about?" His raspy voice travels from behind me. I turn around and give him a small smile. "How beautiful the lake is."
He returns a smile, "what do you want to eat?" He turns around and walks over to the kitchen. I follow him, but sit on the chair at the island that was attached to the sink/counter space. He looks through the cupboards and the fridge a few times. "How about grilled cheese?"
"Sure."
He grabs everything he needs and places it on the counter near the stove. "Want any help?"
"Nope, I wanna make it."
"Okay." I can't help but smile at him while he puts the butter on the bread. "This is going to be the best grilled cheese you ever tasted."
"Really now?"
"Yup."
"We'll see about that."
"Trust me babe, it will be mind blowing." He looks over his shoulder and wiggles his eyebrows at me, I can't help but burst out into laughter.
--
"I'll admit that was very good." I rub my stomach as we sit down the couch.
"I told you." He gives me a cheesy smile. I roll my eyes jokingly at him.
Calum's head is placed in my lap in the process of him laying down, it takes me moment to process what had just happened. "You wanted to get to know me right?" He talks slowly.
"Yeah.." I trail.
"Well what do you want to know?" I'm taken back a bit, but my mind goes blank. He's giving me chance to ask him questions, but I also don't want to go too far and have him pull back from me. So I go with a very simple one.
"What's your favourite colour?" He snorts.
"That's one of the questions you want to know?"
"Yes."
He looks to the ceiling for moment then returns his gaze on me. "Baby blue, you?"
"Black." I answer.
"Well okay." He smiles. "Continue."
"What about fruit?"
"Apples."
He gives me a look, and it takes me a moment to figure out why.
"Oh, grapes."
"What kind?"
"What?"
"What kind of grapes?"
"I like all." I shrug
"If you went to the store and had choice which would you pick?"
"Probably purple." He nods, it almost looks like he's taking mental notes.
"Cat or dog?"
"A dog."
"Me too." He smiles at my answer.
"Tea or coffee?"
"Tea."
"Coffee."
