Chapter Ten.
"Really? Damn, I miss being at work, you know." I muttered, as I spoke to Maya, who was talking about how Sharon and she baked fairy cup cakes today. I was lying on my back, on my soft bouncy bed and patiently listened to Maya.
"So, how's Blake been treating you? I mean, did you ever faint in front of him due to being giddy around your so called crush?" I rolled my eyes at her as I sensed a hint of amusement. Maya always felt that the feelings that I had for Blake were mere infatuation.
"First of all, its not a 'so called' crush. And secondly, he's been surprisingly..civil."
"Geez, civil? I'm all ears, girl!" Maya said excitedly. I let out a chuckle as I delineating my experience so far at the Evans'. To be honest, it was uncanny and eccentric but at the same time, it gave me a good opportunity to connect with wonderful people like Liz and Ira. As I spoke to Maya, I heard a knock on the door.
"Hold up, I'll be right back." I said. I kept my phone on the bed. Putting pressure on my arms, I bounced out of the bed, reluctantly and trotted towards the door. I was greeted by the face of the beautiful asshole who was standing by the door frame, lazily. He scrutinized my attire with convulsed eyes.
"Never took you for the kiddish one." He commented smugly, as he continued smirking at my Tinker Bell pants.
"Never took you to be the one who chases a mystery girl who he banged but then, here we are." I rebutted, as I crossed my arms across my chest and shifted my weight on the other leg. Times like these made me wonder how on earth did I fall for this incredulously handsome asshat, but then, unconventional things keep happening all the time.
"Whatever, big mouth. Just wanted to remind you why I'm letting your pathetic self on my property." Blake deadpanned.
"Because you practically blackmailed me to help you find your chick, or else you'd hack into my iPad like a unrefined lad that you are? Yeah I remember that, Blake."
"You are primarily here to cook, genius. So let's stick to that, yeah?" Blake deadpanned. I nodded my head in defeat. "Let me just disconnect my call, I'll be down in two." I said. I turned away from him before he could open his mouth to squabble. I hopped on to my bed and grabbed my phone.
"Maya, I'm sorry I need to go. Work is calling." I apologized.
"Blake is chasing a mystery girl? And wait, that ass is blackmailing you? What the fuck, Grace! You are supposed to tell me this, I'm your best friend for Christ's sake! God, I feel we've started dri.."
"Maya, we'll talk about this in school, tomorrow. Alright?"
"Yeah, whatever. Good night, Gracey."
I disconnected the call and glared at Blake who had an impatient look his face. "If you've bid your farewell to your lesbian lover, can we like move down?"
"Sheesh, I'm moving, calm your dick." I said, as I trotted a little faster. I grabbed him by his arm, which sent shivers down my spine. Ignoring it, I pulled him downstairs behind me. We walked into the kitchen, still bickering about my so called slow pace. Blake sat on the island table. He opened a jar of hazelnut cookies and began munching on them, as I tied the plain apron around my petite waist. I pulled my hair into a tiny low pony and washed my hands clean.
