Chapter Twenty-Four.
"Are we there already?" I asked for the zillionth time, as I peeped out of the window, only to be greeted by the lush trees that were planted on either sides of the road. I put my head a little more outside and closed my eyes, as I felt the wind rush past my face. "Blake, how long?" I asked in low voice, trying to concentrate on the cool breeze fanning on my face. Never have I ever felt this good, so free.
"Get back in, it's not safe." I heard Blake say, while his gaze was fixed on the unending road in front of us. I huffed as I sat in my place again, crossing my hands across my chest in annoyance.
"We've been driving for over an hour, idiot. Are we heading to Canada?" I asked sarcastically. Blake looked at me from the corner of his eye but didn't reply. I let out a yawn as I rested my head against the soft seat as I looked out of the window. I felt the car take a steep right turn and going a little ahead, the car came to a halt. "That's it?" I asked. Blake nodded his head as he unlocked his seatbelt and got out of his car. I unbuckled my seat and was about to open the door when it was suddenly opened by Blake. He offered his hand which I gladly accepted. Carefully getting out, I turned in a slow circle, observing our surroundings. Our hands were yet clasped together as I felt Blake pull towards, um, Blake alone knows. The sound of insects echoed around as we walked through all the vegetation. "Where we heading?"
"You ask a hell lot of questions, Johnson." Blake said, whilst he continued walking ahead.
"You don't answer me either." I snapped at him, but somehow he seemed unaffected by my tone. "Wait, is this your master-plan of getting rid of me? My sister would peel your skin off, I hope you know that." I murmured. I scooted a little closer to him since the cold was getting to me. Blake's hand snaked around my shoulder pulling me into his side. The warmth radiating from his body made me feel a little better than I was.
I stopped in my tracks as my mouth hung open as I gaped at the view in front of me. There was a huge lake in front of us. The trees around the lake were illuminated with lights and on the plain land was a table for two, a candle lighted in the middle, dishes and glasses arranged on it.
"Do you like it?" Blake asked.
I was at loss of words. I looked up at Blake who kind of seemed nervous and nodded my head as I turned my gaze ahead at the beautiful view. "You arranged this?" I asked him. He nodded his head as I queried again, "Wait, why did you do this in the first place?" I asked confusedly. My mind was giving me vivid kinds of funny ideas about this and as much as I would love it to be true, I know it's not what I think it is. Over the last three years, I've learnt to accept whatever the fact is, however bitter or shattering it is. Sometimes you can do nothing make things how you would want them to be. That's just plain life.
"Um, about this.." He said, scratching the back of his neck in a cute manner, "Er, you've been stressed lately, so I thought you need something like this." He stated, shooting me an extremely nervous grin. My lips twitched up in mirth as I carefully tiptoed to reach his cheek and planted a chaste kiss. As soon as I moved a little away, his cheeks became a light shade of red, his eyes wide as Kim Kardashian's derriere.
"Thank you, this is really amazing." I said genuinely. Blake took my hand in his and led me towards the table and helped me settle down on one of the chairs before he sat across me. "I'm not really hungry, Blake." I said. I just had dinner a little while ago and despite the fact that I have a thing for food, there's no room for anything right now.
"Who said we are having dinner?" He asked rhetorically. He then pulled out a huge cold storage box from which he took out a chocolate ice-cream box. My mouth was watering at the sight of the heaven in front of me, as Blake served us in the bowls.
