Chapter Thirty-Two

"Crème or baby pink?" Em asked, as she held the two pieces of cloth up in the air. "Come on, it's not that difficult!" Em exclaimed, as I took my own sweet time to analyze which color would be great for the curtains.

"Um, I don't know?" I asked. Em rolled her eyes at me but before she could begin with a rant of how insanely slow I am, I spoke up in my defense. "These are too fucking close colors, Em. It's kind of difficult to choose which one would be the best." I justified.

Maya walked in with a box of decoration but stopped in her tracks and stared at us with bewilderment, "Why are you not putting up the curtains and staring at one another with that look?" Maya asked, raising her brows at us.

"Which one, crème or baby pink?" Em asked with a toothy grin to Maya, who narrowed her eyes at the cloths hanging down from Em's hand.

"Don't know, babe. Choose whichever's pretty?" Maya said with a shrug, as she strutted inside Alyssa's room, which was under re-decoration, and placed it one corner whilst Em let out a frustrated groan and I fist-pumped happily in the air, considering the fact that I'm not the only one who got all wired up for choosing between two colors for the curtains.

I walked over to Em and snaked my hand around her shoulder and rested my head on the side of her upper arm, "Hey, you can decide whichever is the best, yeah? My head's pretty churned up right now and my comprehending skills are low to nil, at the moment." I cooed and pinched her cheeks lightly in an attempt to make a grumpy Em smile.

"What if my choice is not good enough?" I heard her mutter under her breath.

"Well, you choosing Damon over that butt-face, lame excuse of your ex-boyfriend, scratch that, whorish and horny ex-boyfriend, pretty much shows your excellent taste." Maya grinned.

I nodded my head in a agreement as Em let out a chuckle and then composed herself as she gave one final glance towards the colors.
"Pink it is, baby." Em said excitedly as she rushed towards the window to put up the curtains.

"Typical Emily McQuaid." Maya commented as she adoringly looked at our best friend who was pretty much riled up with excitement to decorate the room for my baby on the way, more than anyone was.

"And that's what makes her an Emily McQuaid. Wait, does that make sense?" I asked Maya, who was yet amusingly watching Em stand over the ladder trying to put the curtains through the rod.

"It totally does."

After we shifted back here, Cass and I cleaned the old room which was kind of a storage or something and bought a cradle and some other essentials online. Meanwhile the deliveries arrived, the gang came over last weekend and helped in painting Alyssa's room. It was one hell of a day as mom helped in the little ways that she could while she bonded with my bunch of friends. The gradient smile which was plastered on her face all day took her mind off dad.

"Pretty choice of color, Janice." Damon said cheekily, as he appreciatively looked around the room which was done with the painting work. Mom suggested that the lightest shade of pink would be great, not too dark to look at and not too boring.

"Thank you, Damon." Mom said with a smile, as she sat in a corner on a small stool, as she munched upon her favorite Mac n Cheese.

Damon snaked his arm around Em's waist and pulled her into him, "Do you think this place is cool, you know for what." Damon said, wiggling his brows suggestively at her.

Em's cheeks turned a dark shade of red and harshly pushed him away harshly, "My best friend's mom is right here, so could you shut up?" She glowered at Damon who was trying to act oblivious to all the malice radiating from Em.
