Chapter Thirty-Nine: Part One
"Blake, I.."
"Save it." He snapped and stomped out of the hall where the prom was being held. All the students looked at me curiously and returned to whispering among themselves. A pool of tears formed in my eyes as I looked at my best friends. Emily looked at me sympathetically and signaled me to go after him.
As I averted my gaze towards Damon for a fraction of second, I noticed him frowning at me, his stare full of disappointment and betrayal. Of course he'd be mad, I played his best friend, even if that was never my intention.
I took small yet quick steps towards the exit, where I was expecting to spot Blake. And I did. He punched the wall and cursed out loudly, making me wince.
"Blake." I breathed out. I was panting due to walking at a faster pace as Blake turned around, upon hearing my voice. His eyes softened for a moment but returned to being hard, cold and full of hatred. "Blake, please hear me out." I pleaded, tears rolling down my cheeks.
"Hear you out? Hear you fucking out for what? To be fooled by you again?" He yelled whilst he took long strides towards me. My breathing became heavier and heavier as his large frame towered my small one. His forest green eyes looked down at me with pure fury. "I went crazy, fucking crazy looking for the girl I slept with. You played with my heart and emotions. You broke my trust. Why, Grace?" He asked desperately, as he held me by my shoulders and looked helplessly at me.
"I was scared, all right? I was scared that you'd never believe a word I say." I cried, shutting my eyes.
"Of course. I was your customized bully. Way to make me the bad guy here, love." He hissed. "Who is Alyssa's father? Is it someone you were whoring around with, after you decided to spread your legs in front of me?" He asked, venom dripping from each word he said.
His words drew swords of hurt through my heart. "That's what you think of me?" I asked him softly, not bothering to cover up the evident hurt.
"Then answer my fucking question, damnit! The mess that you've created out of that one stupid night is driving me insane!" He exclaimed. I flinched back due to the hostility in his voice and lowered my gaze down. I bit hard on my lip in order to stop the tears.
"Tell me, Grace. Is Alyssa mine?" He asked.
I mustered up courage and looked up straight in his eye, "Yes."
A moment of silence passed by before Blake literally growled at me, "You kept a thing so colossal and important from me? How could you, Grace!?"
"I tried telling you a couple of times, Blake. But something always intervened in. I swear I was supposed to tell you everything and.."
"And what?" He interjected in. "Don't give me the 'you were scared' crap, all right. I am not going to buy that!" He snarled. I took backward steps as Blake approached me. I was trapped between the wall behind my back while his two muscular arms were firmly placed on my sides. "You kept my daughter a secret from me. Can you imagine how it makes me feel? All this while, I was ready to accept the fact that I'd have to be a father figure for someone else's child, for your sake. Now that I know the truth, I feel like a buffoon." He whispered lowly. Chills of fear ran down my spine as his ferocious eyes looked down at me, questioningly.
"I didn't want Alyssa to be rejected by you, just because we were never on good terms, before." I said slowly, trying not to vex him more than he already was.
"Guess what, Grace, you're not supposed to make the decisions that affect the both of us, solely. I was a dick to you, I admit, but I'm not such a heartless cunt to despise his own daughter." He gritted.
