JAMIE POV
It has already been a week and I am leaving today. Everything in my house is packed up and I am now at the airport with Elizabeth and my father, waiting for the plane. As I waited, I thought of many things. What would Korea be like? Would I make friends? Who would I meet? Would I be able to dance? Where would we live? All of these things went through my mind and the more I thought about it, the more nervous I got. After a good thirty minutes, the announcer called out the passengers for the flight to Korea, so I obediently followed my father and Elizabeth. When we got on the plane, I sat by the window, taking in my last glimpse of my hometown. Goodbye New York. With that, the plane started moving and before I knew it, it was in the air, and I drifted off to sleep.
.
"Jamie, wake up. We're here." I heard Elizabeth say as she shook me. I slowly opened my eyes and looked out the window. Korea. I quickly got up and grabbed my belongings. Then, we made our way out of the airport, where I was greeted with the view of South Korea. I looked around to see cabs, restaurants, and many pale people. The sun was shining brightly and it seemed like a good day. I followed my father to a driver who was waiting for us and we got in his car and drove to the house. As we went, I looked out to see many vibrant colors and shops along with many places to eat. I stared out in fascination as I saw a group of girls wearing school uniforms while drinking boba."Remember that uniform. You will be wearing the same one in a few days." My father told me. I weakly nodded my head as I looked back out. We arrived at the house within forty minutes. When we got out, I took a good look at my new home. It was a two story house and it was blue and white. It looked clean and stable, so I was satisfied with it. As I was grabbing my luggage, something caught my attention at the corner of my eye. I turned to see what it was and I realized that it was a boy. He looked around my age and he was sitting out on the porch of a tan-colored house next to mine, and he was looking back at me. We made eye contact for a few seconds and I studied his features. Pale, skinny, fit, plump lips. Before it could go on any longer, my father called for me to follow him, so I broke the eye contact and obediently went after him. As we walked in the house, my father led me upstairs to show me my room. It was medium sized and had a bathroom in it as well as a walk-in closet. I liked it a lot, but I didn't show it in front of my dad.
"Start unpacking your stuff. I expect to see your room organized by the end of today. Understand?" He said. I nodded and he walked out. At that, I smiled widely and walked over to the window. There, I looked out to see a room to the next house. Great, I thought I would get a view of the city. Just then, I saw a figure moving in that room, and as I looked closer, I realized that it was the boy whom I saw outside. My eyes widened. Even better, so now my room can be seen by the guy next door. Why does my room have to be across from his? I sighed as I closed the curtains. Once I did, I went downstairs and got the rest of my belongings. Then, I brought them up to my room where I started unpacking. By dinner time, I was done unpacking and I looked around my room in satisfaction. Then, I went downstairs to join my father for dinner.
"You will be attending a high school a couple blocks away from here. You start in two days so be prepared. Tomorrow, go out and buy what you need. I had Elizabeth wash your uniform." He said.
"Okay." I answered shortly. Then, after a few minutes of silence, I got up. "I'm done. I'll be in my room. Goodnight." I said before walking up to my room. When I got there, I sat down on my bed. What would my new school life be like? Would it be different from New York? I sighed as I opened the curtains, looking out of the window to see the stars shining above. I looked at them for a second before looking down and seeing that the guy next door was looking at me through the window. Startled, I quickly closed the curtains again. What the heck was that? I slightly moved my curtain and peeked back outside, only to see his curtains closed as well.
"Who are you." I murmured. Then, I shook it off and decided to go to bed. I tucked myself in and closed my eyes as I took in the new environment. Here is to a new start in Korea.
