32: Ten Dangerous Seconds

JAMIE POV

"Jamie? Jagiya wake up." I heard a soft voice say. I opened my eyes to see Jimin smiling down at me. I sat up as I stretched.

"What happened?" I asked.

"You fell asleep while we were watching the movie." He chuckled.

"Oh..." I said. I looked at the clock. 9:00 pm. My eyes widened.

"Woah. It's 9 already?" I asked.

"Yeah you should get home. I feel way better now thanks to you. Now it's your turn to go home and rest." Jimin said. I nodded as I stood up. He did as well.

"There is some porridge left from earlier, so finish that and eat your medicine. Then, go to bed okay? I want you better by tomorrow." I said. He nodded.

"Yes ma'am." He said, smiling. I smiled back and he walked me to his door.

"Thanks again Jagiya, your the best." He said.

"I know I know." I laughed. "Goodn--" before I could finish, keys unlocked the front door and a feminine figure walked in. She stared at us, looking at Jimin, and then me.

"Hey mom." Jimin said plainly. Meanwhile, I bowed.

"Hello Mrs.Park." I greeted.

"I can see your feeling better." She said to Jimin.

"Yeah, Jamie took care of me all day." He said. She then turned to me.

"Um... How nice of you. But how did you get in? Jimin was asleep when we talked this morning." She asked with a suspicious tone. I froze.

"I--"

"I let her in. I got up to use the restroom but heard a knock on the door. It was Jamie." Jimin interrupted.

"And why were you taking care of my son?" She asked me.

"Because you went to work." Jimin answered.

"Be quiet I wasn't asking you." She snapped at Jimin.

"I just wanted to make sure my friend was okay." I reassured. Jimin chuckled as he surprisingly... Took my hand.

"She's my girlfriend mom. She was just being a good girlfriend." Jimin confessed. My eyes widened as I turned to him, but he kept a smile on his face. Jimin's mother's eyes widened as well as she looked at the both of us.

"You two are dating?" She asked.

"Y-Yes ma'am." I confessed as well, trying to let go of Jimin's hand, but he re-grasped it.

"I see." She said, studying me with her intimidating look. "Well, it's getting late. You should get home." She said, guiding me to the door.

"Yes ma'am. I hope you have a wonderful night." I bowed. Then, I smiled at Jimin before turning around.

"I love you!" He suddenly yelled. I froze as I started to blush. I turned around to see Jimin smiling and his mom with widened eyes. She gave me a look that said: watch what you say young lady.

"Goodnight Jimin!" I said. Then, I scurried off and rushed to my home while taking deep breaths. I was not ready for that. Jimin why did you have to say things the way you did! I took a deep breath.

"I'm home Elizabeth!" I yelled.

"GET IN HERE!" My father yelled. I froze as my eyes widened. My heart stopped beating as I slowly yet hesitantly followed the direction of the voice to the living room. Fear spread through my body as I saw my father with his belt out already.

"You skipped school?! YOU SKIPPED SCHOOL?!" He asked. How did he know? I couldn't breathe all of a sudden.

"I-I..." I stuttered.

"YOU WHAT?! DID YOU GET HIT BY A CAR OR BEAT ON THE WAY TO SCHOOL TO STOP YOU?! YOUR WALKING AND TALKING JUST FINE SO DON'T EVEN THINK OF SAYING SUCH BS! I CAN ARRANGE FOR YOU TO GET HIT BY A CAR OR BEAT UP ANYDAY, YOU HEAR ME?!" He screamed. His knuckles turned white from his tightened grip on the belt. He took a deep breath as I started to panic. Everything was so dangerously risky right now, I was afraid to move. I didn't know what to do or say. "I'm going to give you ten seconds to tell me exactly where you have been and what you have been doing. If you don't answer, I will beat the crap out of you and I'll give you a reason to not go to school." He said through gritted teeth. I didn't have words to say, so I just stayed silent.

"10." He started. My heart jumped.

"9" He continued. I have nothing to say.

"8" My mind is blank.

"7" I don't even care anymore.

"6" Hurt me. I'm used to it.

"5..." He said in an intimidating voice.

"4" Tears rimmed my eyes as I looked at Elizabeth who was hiding in the kitchen, looking at me with tearful eyes as well. I know you were with Jimin. Tell him so you can be safe. She said with her eyes.

"3" No, I love Jimin. I'm not exposing him.

"2" He said with a dangerous voice as he tightened his hold on the belt.

"1!" He screamed before he threw his belt to the side and ran towards me with tightened fists. I closed my eyes and screamed.

JIMIN POV

"I love you!" I yelled to Jamie. She froze. I chuckled in the inside. She's so cute.

"Goodnight Jimin!" She said as she scurried off. Mother closed the door as she turned to me. I smiled.

"Girlfriend?" She asked with a stern voice.

"Yes." I answered.

"Since when?" She asked.

"A month ago." I answered again.

"Your too young to date. And she isn't really your style." She snapped. I rolled my eyes.

"Well I am dating. And in case you didn't hear, I love her." I said. She scoffed.

"You don't know what love is." She said.

"And you do? Dad isn't even around, he's overseas and do you even call him once a week? Once a month even?" I snapped.

"Park Jimin! Do not talk to your mother like that!" She yelled.

"Then don't insult my girlfriend like that." I said back.

"You are this close to making a huge mistake for your relationship." She said, warning me. I sighed.

"Mom, I'm not feeling good again. I'll be in bed." I said. I walked up the stairs and into my room. She doesn't even know Jamie. How could she judge her like that?

I laid on my bed, smiling as I remembered her blushing when I took my shirt off. Just then, I heard a scream in Jamie's house. I immediately sat up and turned to my window. What the heck was that? Was that Jamie? I grabbed my phone.

Are you okay? I heard a scream. Txt me back when you can.

I sent it and started to get really concerned. What was that? Is she okay?

The suspense killed me as time passed. There was no text back from Jamie. Worry clouded my mind. I opened my window as I coughed and sneezed. Suddenly, I got really dizzy as I laid down on my bed.

Before I knew it, I drifted off to sleep filled with worry.
