4: Preparing For School

JAMIE POV
I opened my eyes and got welcomed by the view of my new room. I looked at the clock. 8:00 am. I got up, stretched, and opened the curtains. As the light came into my room, I looked over to see that the guy's curtain was still closed, so I sighed in relief and went downstairs. There, Elizabeth gave me breakfast.

"Your father already left for work, but he said that you better have all your school supplies by the time he gets back." She said and I nodded. "He left money for you to spend on the table. After you eat, go to the store right away." She finished. With that, I finished my breakfast and grabbed the money. Then, I walked out, waving goodbye to Elizabeth and heading towards the town mall. When I got there, I saw many people walking around, talking with their friends and eating good food. Meanwhile, I was alone as I walked to many different stores, picking up a backpack, pencils, notebooks, folders, etc. By the time it was 2:00, I was done getting all of my supplies, so I headed to the food court where I saw many interesting looking foods. As I looked around, I stopped when I saw something that caught my eye. I walked over to that café and ordered ddeokbokki. I ate it deliciously. It wasn't as spicy as I expected it to be, since I love spicy food, but it still tasted really good. When I finished, I was walking over to the exit of the mall, when I accidentally bumped into someone.

"Oh! I'm so sorry." I said to a pretty girl around my age. She was a little shorter than me, had short brown hair, and was skinny. She looked at me with a smile.

"It's okay. I'm sorry too." She said. Aww, she's so nice. "What's your name?" She asked.

"Jamie. What's yours?" I asked.

"Rachel. Nice to meet you." She said. I said the same thing back as we shook hands. "You aren't from around here are you? You're really pretty, but you seem different." She said.

"Thank you, and I'm from New York. I moved here yesterday." I said. She nodded her head.

"Well, I hope you like it here. I have to go now, so I'll see you around!" She said and I nodded. Then, she gave me a smile and walked away. Maybe I do have a chance at making some friends. With that, I walked back home.

"I'm home!" I announced when I walked through the door.

"Oh! Jaime how was the mall?" Elizabeth asked.

"Good I guess. I met a girl there and she was pretty nice." I said and her eyes lit up.

"Does she go to your school?" She asked and I shrugged. With that, she nodded and sent me to take a shower. After I was washed up, I heard the door to my house open as my father walked in. I immediately ran down to greet him.

"Hello father." I said. He looked at me.

"Did you get everything you needed?" He asked. I nodded and without saying anything else, he walked past me. I rolled my eyes. Would it kill him to say good job. I followed him to the dinner table where we sat to eat.

"Get your mind ready Jamie. I want you to do better starting from tomorrow at school. If you want to keep dancing, maintain good grades. Understand?" He said firmly. I nodded with my head down as I finished my dinner. Then, I went upstairs and I laid out my uniform and got my backpack and materials ready. When I was done, I laid on my bed and looked out of the window. Although the second I did, I saw the guy next door looking at his phone on his bed. I slowly watched as he stared at the phone annoyingly before throwing it aside harshly. Then, before he could turn to look out of the window, I quickly ducked down. A couple of seconds later, I looked back out to see that he left his room. Then, I laid back down, staring at my backpack and clothes. Tomorrow is a new start Jamie. Don't screw it up. You can do this. I sighed and put on my earphones as I listened to music. I closed my eyes, taking in the content that made my body move uncontrollably. Before I knew it, I was up on my feet, dancing to the beat of the music. The music always spoke to me in a way that rose up my confidence and made me feel at home. After I finished, I looked at myself in the mirror. You can do this Jamie.
