Tae didn't go back to Jung Kook's room. He knew the younger would want to hold him, but right now, he didn't want to be touched.
He went to the kitchen and sat on the counter. He was just looking at his hand for the longest amount of time.
After a while, he heard the floorboards creak and looked up to see Kookie hiding around the doorframe.
"Hey," the younger smiled. When he didn't get a response, he continued, "Are you coming back to bed?"
Tae shook his head and looked back to his hand.
Jung walked over to him and looked at his hand, "Does it hurt?"
He nodded.
"Turn this way," Kookie lightly grabbed his hand and pulled it towards the sink.
Tae watched his father's blood wash off his skin then glanced at Kookie. The younger boy looked content, like he always did when he was nursing Tae.
"It's bruised," Jung lightly spoke, "but I guess I won't freak over this one."
Tae slightly smiled when Jung looked up to him.
Then the younger turned off the water and lightly traced his fingers over Tae's knuckles.
After some silence Tae hopped off the counter, his hand sliding from Jung Kook's.
"Tae," Jung turned around.
"I'm gonna find some other place to stay," Tae Hyung mumbled, knowing Kookie would hear him.
"What? Tae, you said you'd stay," Kookie put his hand on his hyung's shoulder.
"Yeah, but Kookie," the older boy raised his voice, "That was before I knew he was going to break into your house. That was before I knew he'd try and hurt you. Before I knew he'd call you a faggot."
"Tae I don't care about what he's done-"
"It was before I knew you'd be in danger!," this statement, coming from his lips, made Jung Kook lose words.
Kookie wanted to speak, wanted to talk about all this, but his words were gone because of Tae's words.
"I can't let there even be a chance that he has a reason to come here again," Tae wiped the water off his hand on to his jeans.
Kookie moved around to stand in front of him, "So you're just going to run from him now? Just leave because he got his lazy ass out of bed?"
"Kookie, no. I don't care if he comes back. If he hurts me it'd be a normal Tuesday, but you," Tae sighed and put his hand on Jung's cheek, "I'd have to kill him."
Kookie put his hand over Tae's and lightly smiled, "I don't want you to go," he whispered.
"I don't want to leave," Tae shook his head, "it's better for you though."
"No, it's not," Jung finally let himself cry, "It's not better. I-I'd kill myself if you left me."
"Kookie," Tae lightly breathed the boy's name out as the younger hugged him. He knew he wouldn't do that. He knew that those words were just used to try and change his mind.
"You should have kissed me," Jung Kook pouted, "Then you wouldn't have thought about leaving."
Tae smiled and laid his head on Kookie's, "Baby, I love you, but if a kiss made everything okay I'd never let you get a break."
"Tae, if that's what it takes to make you stay, I'd do anything."
Tae Hyung kissed the top of the younger's head then put his hands on his shoulders to push him back.
God, did that hurt Kookie's heart. Tae didn't even want him to hug him anymore, or at least that's how it came across.
Jung let his eyes fall to the heart on Tae's chest. Then he brought his hand up to lay his fingers on it, "I love you, too Tae." Kookie walked away after that, not even looking his hyung in the eyes.
Tae Hyung sighed and hopped back up on to the counter. He looked to the clock above the doorway and saw that it was almost four now. He knew Kookie wouldn't go back to sleep now....unless he was crying.
I'm sorry Kookie. But I can't let him hurt you. You mean everything to me, Tae thought as he slid back to the floor, indecisive of where he wanted to be.

Jung Kook woke up with a headache again. Yes, he'd cried until he fell asleep. Yes, he knows how pathetic that sounds. But does he care? No.
Right now, he was still angry. He was mad that Tae wanted to run away from his dad and mad that Tae hadn't come back to bed.
The comfort of the usual arm that was around his waist wasn't there and he felt cold. Then he thought that Tae must've already left by now. This made his anger grow and he needed to sit up.
Jung Kook pulled himself up and slouched over, holding his head in his hand. Then he noticed the blankets being held down by something, and he looked up to find Tae sitting right in front of him.
They had this weird moment of eye contact, as it seemed that Tae had just been staring at him while he slept.
The older boy reached out and pushed his hand down then put his palm on Jung's cheek. Kookie stared at him, like he was the one who broke into the house earlier.
Tae Hyung couldn't take it; the fact that Jung Kook was mad at him. He didn't like the younger's stare of anger.
Tae Hyung let himself lean in a little, slowly moving towards the younger. But, Kookie must've been willing to forgive him because, in a second, he grabbed Tae's shoulders and pulled his hyung forward. He connected their lips roughly, but kept the kiss soft.
After a little while, they broke apart and Kookie wasn't out of breath like he normally was. Tae smiled and made small circles on Jung's cheek with his thumb.
Kookie glanced down to Tae's hand then grabbed it.
Despite the bruise, it was as if nothing with them had changed. The butterflies were still there when he held his hyung's hand and his breath was still stolen when they kissed. No matter how angry he was, he still loved Tae.
"Kookie, I'm sorry," Tae rest his forehead against Jung's, "I got scared."
"You don't have to be scared anymore," Jung whispered, "You made sure of that this morning."
Tae lightly smiled then closed his eyes, "I'm glad you still love me. I'm pretty sure I love you more though."
"Don't say that. You'll make me sound like a bad person," Kookie lightly laughed.
"You can't be bad, you're Kookie," Tae lifted his head off Jung's.
Jung Kook smiled at him then stood up, "C'mon. You deserve a shower."
