Not Alone This Time

Tae had went to the bedroom and fallen asleep as soon as they got home. Kookie had some work he needed to finish, so he was sitting in the living room floor. He was leaning against the couch with his knees up and a folder on top of them.
He was almost done with his work when the front door opened behind him.
It scared the hell out of him since they weren't expecting company. But when he looked he saw Jimin stepping in, like he always does.
"Hyung, you scared me," Kookie pouted and turned back to his work.
"Sorry," Jimin smiled and walked over to sit next to him, "Hobi had a dance thing today, so I'm all alone now."
"He dances too?," Jung Kook looked up from his paper.
"Mhm," Jimin nodded, biting his lip, "We started talking during my first time there. He helped me learn the popping dance they were already working on."
"Why did he need to help you? You're good at that stuff," Kookie went back to finishing his homework.
"I'm good, but not like Hobi," Jimin smiled to himself, "Anyway, where's Taehyungie?"
"Sleeping. Yesterday really tired him out," Jung Kook chose his words carefully for that statement.
"Well, the house looks great," Jimin commented while looking around, "Tae's dad isn't here to wreck it every night though, so..."
"Yeah," Kookie looked up at their tv, remembering the old broken one.
"Want some help?," Jimin brought his attention back to the present.
Kookie shot his gaze to his hyung, "Huh?"
"Your homework. Do you want some help?," Park pointed to the sheet on his folder.
"Oh, no," Kookie shook his head, "I'm almost done."
"Okay," Jimin stood up, "Be right back."
"Alright," Kookie called as his hyung walked back towards Tae's room.

Jimin opened the door and saw Tae curled up in a ball, but he wasn't asleep. His friend was staring at his phone screen in the dark...well, as dark as it can get in the middle of the afternoon.
"Taehyungie," Jimin called out to him and stepped into the room, closing the door behind himself.
"Hey Jiminie," Tae sat up and turned off his phone, "When did you get here?"
"Couple minutes ago," Jimin sat down next to his friend, hanging his legs off the side of the bed.
"Is Hobi with you?," Tae slouched over, his forehead resting on Jimin's shoulder.
"No," Park shook his head, "So, what did you want to talk about?"
Tae handed his phone to his friend, but stayed silent.
Jimin put in the password and was greeted with Tae's text messages.
He had his conversations with Yoon Gi pulled up. It wasn't much, but Yoon Gi had sent a few messages that confessed his feelings to Tae. One of them was recent and the words he used were powerful.
"Tae, you can't seriously be thinking of going back to him," Jimin looked at Tae when he lifted his head up.
"I know I shouldn't be, but Jiminie...," Tae Hyung sighed, "We had something-"
"Exactly had something Tae," Park kept his voice low, "What you and Kookie have is something I can't even see in Ho Seok. Our relationship started because of sex. You two had mutual feelings before you even thought about being intimate."
"You read what Yoon Gi said," Tae tried to defend his thoughts, "He said he's sorry-"
"Tae! Stop!," Jimin turned off his phone and laid it down, "We both know what Yoon Gi did to you. We both know that you hate him for it, so why are you considering him again? Do you still have feelings for him?"
"No, but," Tae exhaled, "Kookie wants to be a singer. I don't want Yoon Gi to stop him."

Kookie could hear Jimin lashing out at Tae. Although, it wasn't that hyung's usual playful yells.
He knew something was wrong. He should've realized it when Jimin came through the door.
He immediately asked where Tae was and normally Jimin would pretend to ignore him for a few minutes.
That was just the way they played. They weren't playing now.
This atmosphere was horribly serious.

"You're going back to Yoon Gi for Jung Kook's sake?," Ji Min questioned hin.
"No...yeah...maybe. Jiminie I don't know," Tae covered his face.
"Do you know how that would make Kookie feel?," Jimin sighed.
"He'd feel like he had a right to worry and cry and feel useless. When he really has no reason at all," Tae let his hands fall to his lap.
"Why does Kookie feel useless?"
"He...basically told me he feels inferior to Yoon Gi. But he's not," Tae laid back down.
"So are you going back to Min-hyung?," Jimin didn't waste any time asking.
Tae rolled from one side to the other then ended up on his back, covering his eyes, "No."
"Are you going to go talk with Kookie?," Park stood up, offering his friend a hand.
"I don't know what to say to him, Jimin."
"Tell him the truth."
"Well the truth is I don't want him to become a singer because then he'd be around Yoon Gi," Tae uncovered his right eye and peeked at his friend.
"Tae," Jung Kook's soft voice came from the doorway, "All you had to do was tell me."
"Kookie," Tae shot up out of bed and moved over to Jung Kook, wrapping his arms around the younger boy.
"I can go to a different company. I just thought it'd be fun for all of us to be in the same one together."
"I know baby," Tae lightly swayed them, "You only meant well."
"Why didn't you tell me that you don't trust him?," Kookie felt himself start to tear up, but he wouldn't cry in front of Jimin.
"I didn't think you'd want to hear it."
It went quiet for a couple seconds, then Kookie hugged his hyung back, "That's silly. I love hearing your voice."
Jimin quietly took a seat again and watched the two of them.
They seemed to be in their own little world on the other side of the room.
It was nice to see his friends so in love and it reminded him that he needed to meet with Ho Seok soon.
"So are you gonna be okay now?," Jimin directed this question towards Tae Hyung.
Park's friend turned to him and smiled, "Yeah."
Jung Kook lightly hit his hyung's chest, causing Tae to look down.
He was met with an urging face so he turned back to Jimin, "Thanks Jiminie."
"No problem. Just take care of our Kookie. We promised him we would, remember?," Jimin smiled to his friends as he left the room and, a moment later, the house.
Jung Kook hugged Tae again, slightly making a pouting noise, "I'm here so you don't have to go through anything alone anymore. So just talk to me."
"Okay," Tae kissed the top of the younger's head, "I promise."

Tae had been making so many new promises lately. He promised Jungkook that he wouldn't go shopping without him, he wouldn't lie, he'd do his homework, he wouldn't bottle up his feelings, and that he'd pursue a career he'd enjoy.
He almost lost track of all the stuff he needed to change. He wasn't under his father's rule anymore. He had no reason to go back on his word, but...he had to admit, never doing homework was one thing he enjoyed in his old life.
Kookie wanted him to have a bright future though, so he made sure he stayed on top of things...the younger included.
"Tae?," Kookie sat his boyfriend's birthday present in front of him, "You okay?"
He looked up and smiled at the younger before pulling Jung Kook into his lap, "I'm fine. Just thinking about you."
"Well, think about opening your present now," Kookie got comfortable as Tae put his arms around the younger, reaching for the small box on the table, "It's not much, but it's three allowances worth."
"Whatever it is, I know I'll like it," Tae kissed Kookie's arm, as he couldn't reach his cheek, and pulled the wrapping paper off the box.
A navy blue box was uncovered and Tae opened it, revealing two rings on chains. One had a gem of sapphire and the other turquoise.
The colors were almost indistinguishable from one another, but the two of them spoke of their birthstones so much Tae knew exactly which he wanted to wear.
"I get yours right?," Tae Hyung picked up the sapphire ring, letting the chain hang over his fingers.
"Mhm," Kookie put his arm around Tae's neck, "You don't always have to wear it though."
"Are you always gonna wear mine?," Tae smiled up at the younger once again, his eyes finally finding a prettier gem to look at.
"Yeah, probably," Jung Kook nodded.
"Then I'll always wear yours," Tae let his left hand grip Jung Kook's side.
Kookie put his hand on Tae's cheek and leaned down a little to softly kiss him, "Do you want a cake or something?"
Tae smirked as he put the ring back in the box, "No. I want Kookie," he slide his arm under Kookie's knees and stood up, carrying the younger towards their room.
"That's not what I was going for," Jung put his right arm around Tae's neck.
"At the start, is wasn't my plan either," Tae lightly laughed as they entered the bedroom.
He laid Jung Kook down on the bed then closed the curtains. Kookie wouldn't even let Tae kiss him if the curtains were open...just in case it escalated.
Kookie was sitting up now, waiting for Tae to come back to him. His eyes landed on the photos across from him at about the time Tae sat down, "Wait," Jung got up.
"What?," Tae let his eyes follow the younger.
"The pictures. You changed them," Jung Kook commented as he touched the frame that used to hold a troublesome photo.
"Yeah," Tae's voice made him turn around, "It bothered you. I don't want you to be worried."
Kookie smiled then moved back to the bed. He sat on his hyung's lap and placed a rough kiss on his lips.
Kookie pushed Tae to lay down then sat up straight, "Happy Birthday," Jung let his hands travel to the button of Tae Hyung's jeans, "Just relax."

Tae laid on his stomach, his uncovered arms making a pillow for himself.
Jung Kook was beside him, staring at the the ceiling with a giant grin on his face.
"Hey, Kookie," Tae spoke slowly, getting his lover's attention, "I love you."
Jung Kook smiled then rolled to his side. He reached out and fixed his hyung's bangs before letting his arm rest on Tae's back, "I love you too."
"Jung Kook," Tae called to him again.
"Hm?," Kookie smiled, but this time answered with only a hum.
"I really love you," Tae lightly smiled, gaining a little energy from the happiness.
"I really love you too, Tae," Kookie saw his hyung's eyes close and in less than a minute, Tae's breathing got louder as his body relaxed.
Kookie was really glad they were on winter break. He was having a nice, warm winter despite the horrid tundra outside.
He and Tae spent their time on the couch or in bed. Not in the dirty sense, but Tae's birthday was an exception.
Surprisingly, they didn't mess around as much as Kookie expected after that first night.
Yes, Tae dropped hints that he wanted to and, when it was brought up, Jung Kook wanted it as well. But they just never did all that much.
Maybe what Jimin told him was true. Maybe their relationship was based solely on the feeling of love and not making love.
Though...what did that say about Ji Min's relationship? Had they ever changed their ways?
Maybe Kookie will ask him next time Tae's not around.
Coming out of his thoughts, Jung Kook rolled out of the bed and covered up his hyung before slipping a pair of sleeping pants on.
It's cold without your arms around me, Kookie thought as he looked back to his boyfriend, You worked hard, so I'll make lunch.
