A Quiet Day

Jung Kook woke up to find Tae Hyung gone. He didn't really show emotion though. Not even wonder of where his boyfriend was.
He got up and went to the bathroom across the hall from their room.
He looked in the mirror and felt indifferent to his reflection, no matter how red his eyes were or how messy his hair was.
He looked down to the sink and saw a note laying on the counter.
He unfolded it and read through the short entry.
Went out to get breakfast. Be back soon. Love you, stay warm.
Jung Kook put the paper down and ran his fingers through his hair, trying to fix it with little effort.
He didn't even notice how cold it was until he read Tae's message.
He forgot that they hadn't gotten the heating turned back on yet.
"You're looking rough Jung Kook," he spoke to his reflection.
Calm the fuck down and get a grip.
Kookie left the bathroom and moved into the living room to sit on the couch.
He grabbed their blanket from last night and curled up in the corner of the sofa.
Kookie turned on the tv and got comfortable while watching cartoons.
When it went to commercial break, he lost interest and started to look around the room.
Tae cleaned the place up really well. You would think it was a brand new place if you didn't know any better.
He did all of this work in a day. That was impressive.
Behind Kookie, the door lock clicked and then the door squeaked open.
Tae stepped in with a, "Yay, you're awake."
"Yeah," Jung looked up to see Tae Hyung lowering a box down to his lap, "Thank you."
"Don't worry about it," Tae shook his head as he walked around the couch to sit down, "So...do you feel better?"
Jung let his hands fall from the box and he thought for a brief second.
"It's...I'm...well....yeah," he sighed, "I'm better, but I just feel...drained, I guess is a good word for it.
"We can do this another day if you aren't up for it today," Tae moved closer and opened the box since Kookie's shaking hands wouldn't let him.
"No, it's okay. I think I can manage throwing clothes into a truck," Jung Kook nodded with a small smile.
"Okay," Tae lightly smiled back.
After a few seconds of silence, and Kookie taking a bite of his giant pastry, the younger noticed something in Tae Hyung's eyes.
It was the same glint as when he'd climb through Jung Kook's window after his dad beat him.
"Tae," Kookie covered his mouth, "Please don't blame yourself for last night. That was all my jealousy talking."
"Yeah, but...you know, when I came over to clean the house...Yoon Gi showed up."
Jung Kook let his hand fall to his lap and he suddenly wasn't as hungry.
"He was acting...natural, like we were still friends, so I let him in. We got the living room fixed up and sat down to take a break...then he kissed me."
Kookie looked away and found himself starting to tear up. He took another bite of his pastry, hoping it would help him swallow the giant lump in his throat.
"I made him leave after that, but I guess-"
"He still loves you, Tae. What about you?," Jung Kook forced himself to look his hyung in the eyes.
"No. Kookie, I love you. One hundred percent you. I told you why I don't like him anymore and I've at least tried to tell you how much I love you. Please believe me."
"I want to. More than anything, but Yoon Gi keeps popping up. It happens a lot more than it should."
Tae sighed and nodded, "I know. And you're right on that front. I didn't plan for him to come back, but he left this morning, so..."
Jung Kook felt so much relief after hearing that. He was happy to have Min-hyung as a friend, but when he tried to wriggle between the two of them, it ticked him off.
"So let's just forget about it," Jung shrugged.
"Okay," Tae lightly smiled.
There was a small silence and Kookie looked down to his food.
He slowly offered it to Tae then smiled, "When do you want to start moving things?"
Tae grabbed the pastry and took a big bite out of it, "Whenever you're ready."

Tae pulled up outside Jung's house and let the younger go inside first.
As bad as it was, Kookie's dad still hadn't gotten around to fixing the window on the front door.
Tae Hyung kept staring at the door, as if he could magically repair it. When he managed to remind himself that things don't work that way, he got out of the car and went inside as well.
Kookie's mom was in the living room and she smiled to him as he entered.
"Hey," he smiled back.
"Hi. Do you guys need anything other than your clothes?"
"No. After all this I'm going to go get groceries," he explained, "the government is giving me a bunch of money and food stamps too, so...it'll work out."
"Hm," she grinned and stood up, "Well, I have something for you," she moved towards her work office and Tae stood still.
When she came back, she had a shoe box in her hands.
"Jung Kook told me that you two had an argument," she kept her voice down, "so maybe, one night when he goes to sleep before you, you could change your photo display."
She handed Tae the box and he opened it.
Immediately he smiled at the contents. Tons of photos of himself, Kookie, and Jimin were piled inside. There were even a couple of Yoon Gi with them.
He pulled one of those out and Kookie's mother sighed, "Maybe not that one, but I'm sure you'll find one."
"Yeah," Tae looked up from it, "Thank you...so much."
She held her arms out and Tae closed the box before giving her a hug.
"Tae! C'mere!," Jung Kook yelled for him.
His mother giggled and pulled back from him, "I'll put this in your truck," she took the box from him, "go on and help him."
"Okay," he grinned as she made her way outside, barefoot and in her pajamas no less.
"Tae!," Jung Kook called as he ran down the hall.
"I'm coming," Tae moved over and caught him as he came to an abrupt stop.
"Good, you know I have no patience," the younger wrapped his arms around his hyung's neck.
"Yeah, I know," Tae lifted Kookie's feet off the ground, causing the younger to hold on tighter.
They just smiled at one another for a little while, then Tae let Jung Kook fall back to his feet.
"I love you, Tae," Kookie suddenly spoke.
"Yeah," he smirked, "I know."
Jung Kook pushed on his shoulder and Tae laughed.
"I love you too," he bit his lip when he looked back to the younger.
"Yeah," Kookie mocked him, "I know."
Tae laughed, turned Jung around, and held on to his sides as he pushed him down the hall.
