Finally, the snow outside melted away. School would be back on after the weekend.
"Tae, let's go over to my house," Jung Kook smiled cutely, hoping that would help.
"Kookie-," Tae sighed, sitting down on the couch next to the younger.
"C'mon, please? I told momma we'd visit when the snow melted," Jung Kook was ready to play with his love, but it was going to be a last resort.
Tae stared at the younger for a little while, then sighed, "Fine, but I get two kisses whenever I want."
"Thank you," Kookie leaned over and lightly pecked Tae's lips.
"That doesn't count," the older boy clarified.
"Did you want it?," Kookie asked.
"I always want to kiss you," Tae shrugged.
Jung stood up and held out his hand, "Then it counts."
"No," Tae grabbed the younger's hand and whined.
"Yes," Kookie mocked him.
Tae Hyung pulled the younger down to sit in his lap, "It doesn't count," he whispered in Jung's ear.
After careful consideration Jung Kook sighed, "Alright, it doesn't count."
"Yay!," Tae hugged his love, "Thank you Kookie."
"Yeah, yeah. Go start the truck," Jung stood up and went to go find his shoes.
"Momma!," Kookie yelled through the house, "We're here!"
"I'm in the kitchen!," she called back.
Jung Kook waited for Tae to hang up their coats then he grabbed his hyung's hand.
It didn't look like Kookie's dad was home, so he felt okay being all lovey with Tae.
Jung's mom met them in the doorway to the kitchen, "I'm so happy to see you," she smiled and hugged her biological son, then her "adopted" son...basically that's what Tae was.
"We missed you too," Kookie grinned as she let go of Tae.
"I missed your cooking," Tae smiled.
That made her laugh, as she was already in a giddy mood, "Well, dinner will be ready in about half an hour."
"Nice, Kookie Momma," Tae put his arm around Jung's waist as the younger moved closer to him.
She smiled then crossed her arms over her chest, "How'd the moving go?"
"Aish, momma," Jung leaned into Tae, "It was so boring."
"That's not what I remember," Tae mumbled behind him.
Kookie lightly jabbed his hyung with his elbow, "It was boring," he emphasized.
"Yeah," Tae looked to his love, "Extremely."
"Ah, why are you two so cute?!," Kookie's mom covered her cheeks and turned to go back into the kitchen.
Jung looked up to Tae and saw the smirk on his lips. The younger rolled his eyes then lightly pecked Tae's lips.
"I'm going to check for something in our room. Go see if momma needs help," Kookie broke out of his love's arms.
"What are you looking for?," Tae raised his eyebrow.
"Something," Kookie said quietly before hurrying down the hall.
Tae brushed it off and stepped into the kitchen then moved over to stand in front of the counter.
"Tae Hyung," Jung's mother turned to him, "You forgot something here."
"What?," he started to think that he left a pair of shoes or something in the bedroom.
Kookie's mom glanced at the doorway then moved to stand in front of him. She pulled an envelope out of her pocket and handed it to him.
"Oh," he lost all words at the sight of his old photos. Kookie found these once and he cried himself to sleep.
"I wasn't sure if it was important or not, so I looked at them. I'm sorry," she played with her fingers then went back to the pot on the stove.
"It's fine," Tae dropped the envelope to his side, thinking of places he could hide it.
"What's fine?," Kookie came in with a smile plastered to his face. He walked over to Tae and leaned into him again.
"The amount of salt," Tae lied as he slipped the photos into one of the drawers. After that he wrapped his arms around Kookie.
"Momma, you're food's always yummy. Don't worry about stuff like that," Kookie smiled at her.
She gave him a light smile back, then looked to Tae, who was looking at the top of her son's head.
He seemed to be just staring, but she knew he was feeling guilty or something along those lines.
The sound of the front door opening brought everyone from their silence and they spread out in the kitchen.
Kookie's dad came in and smiled at them all, "Hey, you're already here. I wanted to set the table before you arrived."
"It's okay," Jung Kook hugged his dad, "I wouldn't care if we ate on the floor."
"I know," his dad laughed and they separated, "You just like to sit next to your mother."
"I love my mommy," he defended himself.
Tae smiled, just watching Jung Kook. He wasn't too interested in the words he was saying, but the smiles and visible laughs were nice.
"I can keep them here," Kookie's mom leaned against the counter next to Tae, "if that would make it easier."
"Nah," Tae shook his head, "I should put them somewhere safe at home. They're my responsibility, not yours."
"Jung Kook," she called to her son.
"Yeah," he laughed out and looked at her.
"You snagged a good one here," she kept her eyes on Tae Hyung, who looked to Kookie.
"I know," Jung smiled at Tae.
After dinner, the four of them sat in the living room. They talked for what seemed like a day, but in reality it was only three hours.
At eight, Kookie got up and stretched, "We should get back. We actually have school tomorrow."
"What time is it?," Kookie's mom looked to the clock, "Yeah, maybe you should."
Tae got up and put his hand in his pocket, "I think I left the keys in the kitchen," he went in there while Jung went to put his shoes on.
Tae grabbed the photos from the drawer and hid them in his pocket.
The short drive back home was silent. Tae held Jung's hand the entire way, letting go once to flip his turn signal on at the only turn.
When they parked in the driveway, Tae climbed out first.
Jung Kook was delayed since he had to wrap his scarf around his neck.
The younger noticed something fall on to the driver's seat and he reached over for it.
"Tae, you dropped-"
Tae turned around and saw Kookie holding the envelope. He pressed his lips together and softly exhaled.
Kookie handed it to him and faintly smiled before climbing out of the truck and slamming the door closed.
He rushed inside, covering his eyes as Tae called for him to stop.
Kookie slipped his shoes off and ran back to their bedroom. He didn't want to lock Tae out because he didn't have a reason to, but he felt hurt for some reason.
"Kookie," Tae called out for him as he came inside.
Jung covered his mouth and pulled a pillow over his head.
It didn't make a difference because Tae came straight to the bedroom.
"Jung Kook," he laid the photos down on the dresser and pulled his jacket off.
He let that fall to the floor as he climbed in bed.
"Yah, Kookie," Tae started to pull on the younger.
Suddenly, Jung didn't want to be touched, so he forcefully slapped Tae Hyung's hand away.
Tae licked his lips and looked down to his lap, "Kookie...Yoon Gi doesn't mean anything to me anymore...at least not like he used to."
"Really?!," Jung shot up, cheeks covered in tears, "It doesn't seem that way!"
"But it is that way," Tae grabbed his love's wrists while he had the opportunity.
Kookie fought Tae with everything he had in him, but his hyung's determination made him stronger.
"What will it take for you to understand that I am in love with you?," Tae said it softly, hoping it would make Jung stop resisting and think instead.
Kookie still fought him, only with less force, "I don't know!"
"Just tell me anything," Tae pleaded and shook the younger a little bit, "I'll do it no matter what!"
"Tae-"
"Kookie please!," Tae quickly wrapped his arms around the younger's frame and roughly, yet lovingly, kissed him.
Kookie twitched a few times, trying to break the hold, but soon relaxed into Tae's arms. He quickly found himself kissing Tae back, pulling the older closer by putting his palm on Tae's cheek.
Jung Kook...you make things worse. Tae would be better off with Yoon Gi. Just let him keep the pictures.
Jung Kook let out an unsteady breath as they broke apart then pressed his lips together, "I'm sorry."
Tae hugged his love, tighter than he ever had.
"I'm so sorry," Jung put his arms around Tae, letting his chin rest on his hyung's shoulder, "It's all my fault."
"No...Kookie," Tae mumbled, but Jung could hear him, "It's not your fault. I get why you do this, but I don't know how to help you."
"You can't," Jung Kook felt another lone tear fall and he felt pathetic, "I have to fix it myself."
"I'm here, Jung Kook," Tae Hyung kissed the younger's cheek, "We don't have to do things alone anymore, remember?"
"Yeah," Jung snuggled into Tae, "I remember. Thank you."
"I love you, and only you," Tae made sure his voice didn't waver with those words, despite his urge to cry.
"I only love you too," Jung Kook closed his eyes and let Tae Hyung's scent become intoxicating.
