September 8th, the first day of school. Since it was the first day, no one was used to waking up at 5AM. Michelle woke everyone by yelling and banging pans together all over the house. "Wake up wake up wake up! It's the first day of school, c'mon!" Courtlen stuck his head under his pillow and Kiloni rolled out of bed. "I'm up I'm up, just make it stop..," she groaned, walking to the bathroom. Michelle continued clanging the pans to the point where Chres rolled off the couch alarmed. "Huh?! What?!" he shouted. "Get up, it's time for school," Michelle replied. Chres pouted at her and slumped upstairs to the bathroom to get ready.
Kiloni walked out the bathroom as he reached the top step. In his eyes, she looked more amazing than ever, hair done and all. Getting lost at her looks, she smiled and went back to her room to change and he went his seperate way. 30 minutes into the morning, everyone was ready to leave, including Courtlen. He, Kiloni and Chres bought breskfast made their way to school. Late. When they got there Chres was in shock. Never had he witnessed a school as big as theirs; most schools he attended were small and worthless looking. The school looked like all those old schools combined to him.
Walking inside, the halls were empty and silent. The 3 went to the front office to sign in late and pick up their schedules. "C'mon Chres, lemme show you around before you go," Kiloni suggested. He nodded and they both left the office, leaving Courtlen to go wherever he felt. Slightly upset about the two running off together, he got over it and did what he usually does in school, walking around, looking for his friends lurking the halls. After a while, he came into Abby, walking down the stairway.
He started to chuckle to himself. "Haha.. well well well, look who we have here.." he smirked. Abby looked him with a innocent look in her eyes, although she wasn't innocent at all. "Hey Court. When did you guys get here?"
"Just now.. where you goin'?"
"Just walking around.." she started to play with her hair. "Shouldn't you be in class?"
"I don't have to be.. I want to see what's up with you." He stepped up a stair and got closer to her face. "Nothin' much.." She looked away from him but he turned her head back with his fingertips. "C'mon Abby. You sure about that?" She tucked in her lips and nodded. "Alright.. I hope I see you around.." He walked past her, grabbing her butt. They looked back at each other a last time; "don't tell Loni," he said as he walked out the door. Abby wants to tell Kiloni but she enjoyed their little interaction, and she thought it seemed harmless so she just kept it between her and Courtlen.Kiloni and Chres decide to skip the whole first period to look around the school. They make it to the top floor, where the gym is. "Well that's just it. But I want to show you one more thing," Kiloni said. She grabbed Chresanto's hand and ran out the gym doors and up another flight of stairs. The stairs lead to a door with a retractable chain on it. Kiloni unhooked the chain and opened the door to the roof. They slowly walked outside and saw the view of majority of LA. The beach, some trees, buildings, everything. "Isn't it wonderful? I love coming up here to think and chill," Kiloni said, still holding his hand. After a while, she noticed their hands still locked and awkwardly let go. To her, that wasn't really meant to happen. Chres was still captivated by the landscape and looked at the sun rising higher. They stood there admiring the view but lost track of time.
"We better get going!" Kiloni shouted. She grabbed his hand again and scurried inside, locking the door and chain behind them. The bell rang as they ran downstairs, causing them to blend with other students so it was like nothing really happened. Back on the first floor, Kiloni and Chres met up with Abby. "Loniii! Who's your friend?" Abby asked, hugging Kiloni. "Chres, this is Abby, my bestfriend. Abs, this is Chresanto, the boy who's staying at my house."
"Ohhhhh, the cute badass! Hi!" Kiloni shoved Abby's arm, queuing her to stop talking. Chresanto chuckled to himself, "aha, it's cool. Nice to meet you." Abby looked at the two standing together and couldn't help but feel something between them. "Is there something going with you guys?" Abby whispered to Kiloni. "Dude no!" She loudly replied. "Well why not? He's cuter than Jake. And he smells nice.."
"So?"
"Y'all look so adorable though!"
"It's not even like that!"
"Um," Chresanto interrupted. "Sorry, Chres. Abby's coocoo sometimes," Kiloni apologized. Abby made a stank face at her and crossed her arms. Out of nowhere, Jake wrapped his arms around Kiloni. Along with him, was Courtlen, who stood closer to Abby. "Miss me?" Jake smiled. "Jake!" Kiloni shouted. She hugged him and kissed him on lips. Courtlen laid his arm on Abby's shoulder and winked at her. "Hey Abby.." Abby smiled and looked down at the ground, "Hey Court.."On the other hand, Chresanto stood there in shock. He didn't know that Kiloni dated Jake. What shocked him even more is that he knew that Kiloni wouldn't date of guy like Jake, aka a drug dealer and user. "Chres, this is Jake. He's my boyfriend," she cheerfully said. "We've met already, he works with your brother." he replied. Courtlen began making gestures to Chres, telling him to be quiet. "Haha, yea right. Jake isn't a pothead loser like this clown over here. He doesn't mess with that stuff." Jake gave Chres a death glare; his face expression was telling him to shut up. "Guys, me and Abby gotta go to the bathroom real quick. Can you wait for us?"
"Sure thing, babe."
"Okay. You better wait too, Chres!"
"Aight," he replied. The girls went off to the bathroom, leaving the boys alone. Jakes looked at Chres devilishly. "Bro, what the hell you tell her that for?" Chresanto looked at him with question. "Wait, you didn't tell her about that stuff?"
"Hell no! She'd leave my ass."
"Then I would lose my job!" Courtlen interrupted. "Bro.. you gotta tell her. That ain't right."
"You've seen her.. she looks too good to let go. Plus, me and my boys won't like that and come for this guy over here," Jake said, pointing at Courtlen. Chresanto couldn't believe his ears. He looked at Jake with shame and Courtlen looked down. "Wow.."
"I know. Smart, huh?" Jake smirked, as the girls came back. "So we gonna go to lunch or what?!" Kiloni shouted. "You know it!" Jake shouted back, and kissing her cheek. He put his arm around her and all 5 of them walked together. Chresanto couldn't deal with knowing that Kiloni was being used. Courtlen just walked silently, looking upset. He has to put his sister on the line for his money and his well being. As for Chresanto, he needs to tell Kiloni the truth about Jake, one way or another.
