Finnick's POV
I ran outside to say my final goodbye to Katniss. She was going to district 8 to film for a rebellion thing. There wasn't a 100% chance she was going to be safe, so I wanted to make sure that we had a proper goodbye, after all, she is my only friend here.
F: Katniss!
K: Hey what are you-
F: *hugs* Be safe. Come back alive.
K: *laughs* I'm gonna be fine. I'll come back I promise.
F: You're the only one I talk to here, the only one who's keeping me from going insane, please be safe.
K: Hey, relax, I will be safe.
F: *smiles*
K: Do me a favor though?
F: Ya?
K: Stay sane.
F: Of course.
K: *smiles* Bye.
F: Bye.
Annie's POV
I woke up sore and paralyzed. I looked over my shoulder and saw a peacekeeper getting my morning weakness needle ready, as usual. I slowly rose up and the peacekeeper sharply turned around and looked at me.
Peace: Morning, ugly.
I could've insulted him ten times worse, but I decided not to, for Cliff's sake.
A: How long was I asleep?
Peace: 2 days.
A: Wow.
Peace: You woke up screaming for your lover a lot. It's annoying.
A: Sorry?
Peace: Let's go. *grabs Annie's arm*
A: Where?
Peace: Shut up and let me take you there .
A: *rolls eyes*
He brought me to a dark room and shoved me to the ground. I fell into someone's arms. I had no idea who it was, the person was all bruised up and covered in dirt. I only realized who when the person realized who I was and gave me a familiar bone crushing hug.
A: C...Cliff?
C: Annie!
A: Oh my god, Cliff!
I hugged him back immediately and started to cry.
C: Dot cry, Annie, I'm here.
A: They could have killed you, they killed-
C: Shhh. I know.
A: She's gone, we lost her.
C: It's ok Annie, I'm still here, you won't loose me.
Peace: *grabs Annie* Wouldn't count on that.
C: No! Let her go!
Peace: Snow says one of you has to die. *grabs gun* Who's it gonna be? *points gun at Annie's head*
A: *gasps*
C: No! Kill me! Kill me instead!
A: No! No! Please!
Peace: *laughs* I think I enjoy seeing Ms. Cresta suffer more then you Mr. Cresta. *points gun at Cliff*
A: No! Please! God no!
Peace: Shut up! Let me enjoy this! *puts hand on trigger*
A: No!
C: I love you Annie.
A: *cries* No! Please!
Peace: *shoots gun*
The sound rang through my ears, it was a mix of a gun shot and Cliff screaming. It all happened so fast, one moment I was in Cliff's arms, then he was dead.
A: Cliff!
Peace: *drops Annie*
A: *crawls to Cliff* Oh my god...oh my god.
I was a mix of emotions. Loss, anger, fear, and shock. I reached Cliff's dead body and flipped it over. There he was, eyes open and lifeless, blood dripping from his stomach, where the peacekeeper shot him.
A: *gasps* Cliff! *cries* Please god no!
I shut Cliff's eyes closed, trying to convince myself that he wasnt dead, only sleeping.
Peace: Touching, if only I cared. *laughs*
That was the last time he fucked with me, I had to fight back. I could now, there was no one left that I loved. My parents, Eve, and now Cliff were dead and the only one I had left was Finnick and I'm not even sure if I will ever see him again.
A: You son of a bitch! *stands up* Look what you've done! I hate you! I hate you, I hate Snow, I hate the capitol, and I hate this god damn government! Fuck you and everything you live for, I hope you die!
Peace: *punches* If you ever-
A: *punches* Fuck you!
Peace: *grabs Annie's arm* That's it!
He grabbed me and dragged me to a room. It was a small, white room that had nothing but a chair in it. This must be the room Johanna was talking about, they were going to keep me in here till I died. He shoved me in the room and locked it. He left the room and I was stuck in there. No escape.
