After me and Finnick were better, Peeta went to get our weapons. Katniss went to wash herself off on one side of the pond and Finnick went to the other. I went to Finnick's side and sat next to him. He kept scrubbing his hand even though it was completely free of pustules. I studied him as I scrubbed my hands. He seemed to be scrubbing harder by the second. I looked closer to his hand and saw that it was red and irritated from the scrubbing.
A: Finnick.
F: *scrubs harder*
A: Finnick!
F: *scrubs harder*
A: Finnick!! *grabs his hand*
F: I'm an asshole. *shakes Annie's hands off*
A: No Finnick, you were just-
F: I saw the way you looked at me when I yelled at you. You were scared...of me.
A: Finnick...
F: Annie, I hated that look. I hated every second that we were in that fog. We could have died at any moment and you would have remembered my last moments with you as fear.
A: *looks down*
Finnick saw me look down. He put his hands on the sides of my face. He pulled my face up to his, so that I was looking at him. He did all of these movements gently and softly. He didn't want me to fear him or think that he'd hurt me and I didn't feel or think any of these. I love him and I know in my heart that he'd never lay a finger on me in an abusive way.
F: I never want you to be scared of me, ever. I would never make you do anything you didn't want to. I'd never hurt you, because I love you.
A: I love you too Finnick.
F: Can you ever forgive me?
A: I forgave you the moment you did it. I could never stay mad at you. *caresses his cheek*
He leaned in and kissed me. It was a soft and simple kiss, but it meant everything to me. After we parted, we smiled at each other. Finnick glanced up at the trees and then his face went serious. I looked at him with a confused face.
A: What is it Finnick?
F: *whispers* Get behind me.
A: What? Why?
F: *nods head toward trees*
I looked behind me and saw a bunch of weird looking baboon like creatures behind us. I knew from the second I saw them that they were mutts. I grabbed a throwing knife from my belt and held it defensively. Finnick walked slowly in front of me. Of course, he was protecting me. I whispered Katniss' name and pointed to the mutts. She got her bow out and put an arrow out, ready to shoot. Finnick grabbed his trident as a mutt came closer to him. He swiped the trident up and pointed it at them as a warning to back away. Katniss told Peeta to walk near them slowly. Peeta looked up and a mutt was roaring in his face. All the mutts started growling and moving rapidly around us. Katniss told us to get to the beach. Then all hell broke loose, as a mutt pounced for Katniss, but Peeta killed it with his sword. Now we were shooting and stabbing mutts left and right. They kept coming. It was never ending. One ran at Finnick from behind. It was about to rip his head off. It did a jump in the air to get to his head, but was stopped by my throwing knife. One came to me and its claws were centimeters from me. I would have been dead if I didn't punch it square in the face. This only made it angrier. It jumped up in the air and was about to pounce on my face, but I got a throwing knife out just in time to hit it. None were coming to me so I looked around. I saw one that jumped on Katniss and was drowning her in the water. I took a knife and threw it straight in its brain. I pulled her out of the water and told her to go to the beach. She looked surprised to see that I was the one who saved her, but she listened and her and Peeta ran near the beach as me and Finnick fought off a few more mutts. A mutt came right at both of them causing them to fall to the ground. Peeta was leaned against a bunch of vines when a mutt came right at him. Suddenly the girl morphling from 6 came out and got bitten by the mutt instead of Peeta. Another mutt came at Katniss and then Finnick stabbed it with his trident. Peeta and Katniss grabbed the morphling and dragged her to the beach, leaving me and Finnick behind to fight off the mutts.
F: Annie go! I've got this! *stabs a mutt*
A: No Finnick I'm not leaving you! *throws a knife in a mutts stomach*
we fought off the mutts for a little bit, giving us time to get to the beach. We both ran for it. Finnick ran and jumped over a log causing him to do a flip on the beach sand. I did a flip over the log and shot two of my knives into two mutts following me. I then jumped onto the beach and got a dagger out in one hand and a throwing knife in the other, while Finnick had his trident ready to stab a mutt. For some reason, the mutts stayed in the forest area and didn't touch the sand. The morphling's canon went off and the mutts just left us alone. What?! Me and Finnick shared a I'm confused/thank god you're alive face. We all watched as the hovercraft came to get her. Something the I'm still confused about, why did she save Peeta? She didn't even know him.
