Finnick's POV
I climbed up the ladder as fast as I could, my legs weak from all of the gashes that the lizard mutts gave me. Katniss was still in shock from Gale once I got up there. Her face was covered in tears and her eyes filled with rage, if only Snow was here right now. The mutts were still tearing Gale apart as I ran to her and tried to snap her out of her trance.
F: Katniss!!! Katniss, please!!!
K: G...*gasps* Gale.
F: Katniss, the mutts are coming! Shoot an arrow!
Katniss' POV
How could Gale do that? How could he leave me? I suddenly saw Finnick yelling at me to shoot an arrow so the mutts wouldn't get up the ladder. I might as well put Gale out of his misery, I don't want to cause him any more pain, might as well end it all now. I pushed Finnick's hands off of my shoulders and leaned over the opening to the ladder. I stared down, hearing Gale's screams. I got my explosive arrow out and got ready to shoot.
K: *whispers* Nightlock........
I shot the arrow and everything blew up into flames. Finnick pulled me back and protected me from the fire. Once the explosion died down, I looked at Finnick and realized he was in pain. I looked down at his legs, there were gashes everywhere from the mutts.
K: Oh my god Finnick!
F: *groans* I'm fine. C'mon lets go.
He started to get up, but failed. I yelled for help and Cressida came over and helped me get him up. We helped him walk all the way to safety. We need to get him back at 13 as soon as possible, he can't fight any longer.
