~~~~~
We were half way up the mountain as the sun began to set. None of us had spoken since we crossed the river, leaving Rick's blooded body behind. I yawned silently for the 15th time. I had nothing else to do so I counted my yawns.
"Are we stoping for the night," Cameron's voice broke the silence.
"If we do we'll be surrounded by Shadowers before you can even blink," Dan said. He had his anima gladio drawn, ready to kill.
"Are you guys ever gonna say why he's here," Toby asked.
"And who he is," Cameron added.
"I'm here to kill Shadowers and my name is Daniel Waylander. And I would like you all to call me Dan. Scarlett's friends are my friends," he winked at me with a smirk on his face.
"In other words if you don't call him Dan he'll kill you," Toby growled.
"Tisk tisk wolfy. You know I only kill damned things like shadows and half demon things," he said, his smirk had gotten bigger.
"Can someone please tell me what a Shadower is and please explain how we know him," Cameron yowled.
"Shut up mortal! They will hear your cries and come for you," Dan said gripping his anima gladio tighter.
"My name isn't mortal its Cameron," Cameron growled.
"Shut up both of you! Toby make sure no one came to investigate Cameron's scream. Dan take Fate while he's gone. Cameron calm down I'll explain if you let me," I snapped. "And stop acting like little children please!"
Toby shifted and took off, his paw steps barely heard in the quiet night. Dan mounted Fate easily and took off after Toby.
"If you guys get in a fight I swear I'll cut both of your throats," I yelled after them. "Now Cameron listen closely because I don't want to repeat the story."
"I will. Go head and shoot your story at me," Cameron said moving Sky-Ghost closer.
"Alright," I sighed and began. "When I was a girl, a young girl and I still lived with my birth parents, they sent me to a shadow-hunting school. Shadow-hunters are skilled warriors that have very, very special weapons and skills. They hunt things called Shadowers which are monsters from hell itself. There are a lot of different kinds of Shadowers and one kind can turn humans into half-wolves. That's why Dan doesn't like Toby. The glowing sword he has currently is a anima-gladio which is one of the few things that can kill Shadowers. His anima-gladio will only work for him, only he knows the words to draw it from its sheath. The words he says are in Latin and even if you say them, it knows you aren't him so it won't open for you. But the Shadowers work for Rick. He controls them. It's sorta like his undead army."
"So like if I took his anima-gladio thingy I couldn't use it? Like not at all use it or just not be able to use it against these Shadower things," he asked interrupting me.
"Nope. It wouldn't even come out of the sheath for you. And now if you'll let me, continue my story. We trained together, Dan and I, and we were the absolute best. We were a fighting pair and could kill anything together. He was nothing without me and I was nothing without him. After five straight years we had finished the school. And since he was the best of the boys class and I was the best of the girls class he came to the castle to live there and to hunt for the king, my father. My mom never liked the idea of me hunting monsters but she never tried to stop me. But even though Dan was my partner in crime he's still a cocky asshole. And as you can see, he's f**king hot and he knows it and uses it. I used to have a small crush on him but I learned to hate him over the years," I smiled as I remembered the way we always had each others back and stuff. "But he found a new partner to have his back. His name is or was--"
