"Scarlett," Cameron asked.
"What for the seventh time do you want," I exclaimed, slightly annoyed.
"This time its real important! There was a sign back there that said 'hotel- five miles'," Cameron grinned brightly.
"I know Cameron. You already told us," I said and Cameron shook his head.
"No last time it was ten miles away," he grinned even brighter.
"Hannah," I motioned to Cameron.
"I'm not putting another spell on him. I'm sorry Scarlett I'm just not," Hannah shook her head.
"I'm going to run ahead to check out this town," Toby didn't even wait for an answer before he shifted and raced off.
"I'd better go after him," Dan mumbled before racing after him.
"It was nice when they all listened to you," Windy said quietly from her seat on Sesame's back.
"I can't say your wrong," I muttered.
"Look Scarlett," Cameron yelped and my head shot up to see if it was danger.
Which it was. Dan had his anima-gladio draw and Toby's fur was standing on its end. I raced Storm-Brooke forward to them, Sesame following quickly. Cameron and Hannah raced after me. I got to Dan and Toby first and Dan looked guilty.
"What the serious fuck is wrong now," I asked. "There isn't a soul around!"
"There was! It looked like a cat," Dan said, his anima-gladio began glowing purple.
"Shifters," I whispered before we were surrounded by tigers.
"I fucking hate cats. Did I ever tell you that," Toby had shifted back.
"Travelers. What do we oh the pleasure to," a man had shifted back to a human.
"We want a hotel room. That looks like the hotel the signs were talking about," I growled. Shifters were not my favorite people.
"A hotel," the man laughed. "I do not know of a hotel."
"Bastard," I growled. "Well then we will be on our way then."
"On your way? Where would be your way," he laughed.
"None of your business," I snapped and Sesame growled slightly.
"Well then you aren't going anywhere," he stated.
"Oh really? I know your leader will not be very happy to know you fucked with travelers," I knew I hit the spot.
"Our leader--" he started but a growl cut him off.
"Stand down, Max," a voice growled.
"I.. I.. I am sorry master," Max dipped his head and stepped back.
"Travelers. Please excuse my subject. Sometimes they can be very stupid," a large man stepped out of the shadows. I could see his muscles and toned skin underneath his white shirt.
"I guess it is fine but we must be going," but he shook his head.
"No. You wanted a hotel and we have one. My subject was lying," the man looked slightly annoyed at Max. "Of course unless you don't want a hotel."
"A hotel would be great," I smiled at the man. "My name is Scarlett and these are my friends."
"Scarlett," he nodded respectfully. "My name is Rusty and these are my subjects."
"Nice to meet you Rusty. Now me and my friends would love to get some much needed sleep," I smiled warmly and he nodded.
"Of course. Follow me," and with that he turned and started walking.
I glanced at Dan who was giving me the 'this is not a good idea' look. I nodded slightly to him.
"Excuse me but I think that we are good. My friends are more well slept then I thought. I hate to inconvenience you and thank you so much for your offer but I think we will have to turn it down," I said stopping Rusty in his tracks.
"In other words you don't trust us," he whirled around, anger etched in his face. "Just because Rick Baylock is a shifter doesn't mean we are all like him. Sometimes I wished that Scarlett hadn't left."
"I left against my will thank you very much. Also I am back for you guys," I replied angrily. "And its not that I don't trust you, hell your probably more honest then most, it is simply because we are not tired. I appreciate your hospitality but it isn't needed right now."
"Princess? It is you," excitement and confusion filled his voice. "It has been a long time!"
"To long. Yes I know. And as much as a hotel is tempting I must be on my way," I grinned warmly and took down my hood. "Balinor needs saving! It has been 200 years to long that Ari has ruled!"
"Princess I wish you luck then! We will fight by your side if needed," he smiled brightly. "Anything for you, Scarlett."
"Thank you. Thank you all for being loyal. It means the world that you guys still have faith that the true ruling will be back," I nodded to the tigers that hadn't shifted back yet. "You all are very appreciated! Thank you all!"
They watched eagerly as I catered Storm-Brooke through the crowd.
"Good luck," Rusty shouted after us.
I looked back and smiled and then turned back to my group. They all looked surprised.
"What? Surprised I showed my face," I grinned as they nodded. "Some people need to see to believe."
