"Oh Scarlett Rose," Rick smirked. "I must say I have missed your spunk. And also I must say I'm sorry in advance for killing you. Since my guards failed oh so miserably I had to come out here myself. But anyways Ari wants you dead and she said as long as I got the job done I'd be free. But for now I can only shift if she has approved the animal or thing. And the animal of the day is, a mountain lion!"
"Well I have one question. Will you be able to shift if you have an arrow through your throat," I said innocently.
"Go and see what happens deary," he mocked.
I pulled my bow up and fired on arrow straight into his leg. He merely pulled it out. The arrow head was wet with blood.
"So you aren't arrow-proof? Good to know," I smiled evilly.
I then levitated the fallen arrow back to me examining the dark red blood that was almost black. Suddenly Rick leaped at me. In mid air he shifted to a mountain lion. Sesame cut him off, tackling him to the ground.
'Don't interfere Scarlett. It's my fight. Get the others across the river. It's not my destiny to die here.' Sesame thought to me.
I nodded reluctantly, know if I tried to interfere Sesame would get killed. I still raised my bow though, ready to fire at any second.
Rick was very strong and he easily threw the light weight Sesame off. Before she even touched the ground again, Rick lunged. Sesame didn't have time to move very far so he caught her back left leg. Rick used both paws to twist her leg until Sesame let out a pained yelp. He then sunk his teeth into her probably broken leg.
Sesame twisted around and snapped the tip of his ear off. The blood dripped down into his eye causing him to let go. She pulled her leg back before Rick could grab it again. Sesame then sat down, her eyes watched Rick's every move.
Rick was shaking the blood from his eye still. Sesame just sat and waited. She bent her head down and started licking her injured leg. Rick obviously thought she wasn't paying any attention and nimbly jumped at her.
Sesame stepped out of the way and Rick landed badly causing him to fall. Before he could get up Sesame jumped onto him, pinning him down. She snarled and went to bite him in the neck but he flipped his head back, biting her muzzle.
But Sesame stayed on top of him and sunk her teeth into his back leg instead. She shook her head to deepen the wound. Rick threw her off before she could do any more. Blood poured out of his leg as he stood. Sesame began dancing around him growling.
Rick yowled at her throwing himself towards her. His aim was off and he fell next to her. His injured leg was on the opposite side of Sesame. She dove on to him and ripped his uninjured leg up.
Sesame leaped back before he could bite her again. I could tell that Sesame had had a leg injury before and knew how to fight on three legs. Rick didn't move or couldn't move. He lay there, blood pouring out his legs.
"Rick Baylock. I must say you have gotten weaker! I predicted it the other way around but damn I was wrong," I said walked over to him.
"I thought when you said he was "the enemy' and he was strong and evil and half descent at fighting," Cameron said from behind me.
"Well if we ever meet again, I hope you get smarter and become a better fighter," I said shaking my head. "And Cameron, he used to be a wizard and a shifter. Maybe Ari took most of his power away so he couldn't kill her. Because trust me, he used to be a killing machine."
"Uh I hate to interrupt this beautiful moment but we might want to go," Toby called to us.
"Where are you going this time little princess," a deep manly voice asked.
"No," I whispered. "Not you. Please let it not be you."
"Little Scarlett. Did you miss me," he said emerging from the shadows of the forest.
"Please tell me we don't have another enemy," Toby groaned.
"Enemy? Nah more like an old cocky assed friend," I growled. "Daniel. Nice to see you again."
"Nice? I thought you'd be jumping up and down at the sound of my voice. Or at least you used to," Daniel said sounding slightly amused.
"What did I do to deserve this! Who sent your cocky ass out here Dan," I asked, very unamused.
"Hahaha someone said you might need the help of a shadow-hunter," he said walking towards me.
"What did the Shadowers get out again," I groaned. Just what I needed.
"Well apparently you don't want it sugar-coated. So yes princess. They did because of your sister. She released them along with him," he pointed to Rick.
"Wonderful. Just wonderful. Why don't we talk and go because I have a feeling that Ari is gonna be coming," I said then I looked at Sesame.
"Don't worry I'll just use a healing ritual," Dan knelt down and muttered something in Latin.
Sesame leaped up and raced to me jumping up and licking my face just to make sure I was ok. I nodded my thanks to Dan. I then turned and shrunk the supply cart and put it in the saddle bag. I then mounted Storm-Brooke. I watched with slight amusement as Cameron gave me a look of pure confusing.
"Am I the only one f**king confused," Cameron exclaimed.
"Nope. I would like to know why a shadow-hunter is here though," Toby seemed to spat out the words.
"Half-wolf? Really? I can't believe it Scarlett! I thought you were better then this," Dan exclaimed.
"Better? Dan shut your mouth for once. He's my cousin and I need him here. I'm not desperate and if I were, I would have called a hunter like you only not you. But I didn't call any shadow-hunter," I said leaping to his defense.
"Whatever Scarlett. Say what you like deary," he said with an amused smirk on his face.
"Call me deary again and I will personally shove your own anima-gladio down your throat," I snapped. "Now lets go before anything else comes to kill us."
