~~~~~
My mind was always on Windy. I would try and thing of something else but my thoughts would always return to Windy. All her pains and heart-breaks were now mine. Every memory that was once hers was now mine.
"Scarlett," Cameron exclaimed, shaking me.
"Sorry," I muttered. "Whats up?"
"We are stoping at this hotel up here," he said, pity and guilt filled his eyes.
I nodded and zoned back out to Windy again. Her lover, a pixie named Dalton, was murdered in cold blood by Ari. She was blamed for it, and was shunned because Dalton was the queens son. Windy was already in enough grief from her parents resent deaths that she almost gave herself up to the Shadowers.
For years she tried to redeem herself but no one ever forgave her. That was all she wanted. Forgiveness and acceptance. And she died without getting it. Maybe I could fix--.
"Hello Scarlett? Earth to Scarlett? Is there any Scarlett left in there," Dan asked, interrupting my thoughts.
"Ya. I'm here. I guess. I don't even know anymore," I said, a tear dribbled down my cheek. "I'm here one second then the next I'm back to Windy. Always Windy."
"Oh Scarlett," Dan shook his head slowly. "It's the curse sweetheart. 'You said her name' curse."
"I know," I whispered.
"Well anyways... we are stopping in a few minutes so if you could stay with us," Dan finished and as soon as he said it, I zoned back to Windy.
Windy's parents died in a battle against a gang of Shadowers and then the pixie queen ordered redemption and sent a battle patrol to Ari. In other words the queen sent her own son into his death. And yet Windy was blamed. Even she didn't know why.
Storm-Brooke suddenly stopped and Sesame snarled, making the others freeze. I quickly drew my Anima-Gladio and glanced around.
"What is it Sesame," I hissed quietly.
'Shadowers. Or at least thats what it smells like,' Sesame thought back.
"Damnit," I turned to Dan. "Shadowers."
"Love--" a awful screech cut Dan off.
Two huge Shadowers dove out of the woods, a warlock chasing them. The huge black beasts were bleeding their awful black blood. I didn't hesitate to throw myself into on of them. My Anima-Gladio glowed as I sunk it into the blackness.
The Shadower yowled before disappearing right before my eyes. Dan had finished the other one off and the warlock the was chasing them looked very grateful. I walked up to him.
"Thank you," he said, bowing. "I shall forever be in your debt"
I nodded and walked away from him, back to Storm-Brooke. I mounted her and closed my eyes, for tears threatened to come.
"If you'd please excuse her, she lost her best friend about a day ago," Dan started but I quickly interrupted.
"Dan. Shut up. I can talk for myself and don't talk like I'm not in hearing range," I growled. "As for you sir, you are very welcome and I ask of you a favor."
"Of course. What is this favor," the warlock asked.
"May I ask you for a warm meal for my friends and I," I asked, smiling.
"Why of course. It'd be my pleasure," the warlock grinned once more. "And my name is Merlin."
"Thank you Merlin," I said. "It means a lot to us."
