Zoe had gotten everyone patched up by noon and they all began back to their camp. Alpha Hayden invited us to stay at their camp until Dan was well enough. I had accepted. Their camp was much like Toby's with three buildings. One was the hospital, the other a nursery and the one in the middle was the house.
Alpha Hayden had showed us each a spare room to get some rest. He said he'd notify us when Dan woke up. I had slept restlessly for about an hour until finally I got up and went to find Storm-Brooke. Apparently they had lots of unicorn riding travelers because they had a large stable behind the house.
Storm-Brooke, Sky-Ghost, Fate and Fatum were the only unicorns in the huge stable. Two stable-boys were trying to get in the stall with Storm-Brooke. She, of course, was bucking and making a huge commotion.
"Hey you two," I shouted over Storm-Brooke. "Step away. Please!"
"Ma'am we've been given direction to feed, water and groom each of the unicorns," one of them said.
"Yes yes. I know. But she is my unicorn and just about hates everyone other then me and my closest friends," I sighed as I shoved through to Storm-Brooke. "Hush deary. It's ok."
"Wow. We thought she just got spooked! But we watered and fed her and when we came back to groom her, bam! She turned wild on us," the other boy said. "We thought she just didn't trust half-wolves!"
"No no. She loves Toby but trust me, she doesn't trust anyone," I smiled at them.
"Alright miss. Do you want to groom her," they asked at once.
"Nope," I popped the 'P'. "You two can. Now that I'm here she doesn't mind. That is unless you don't care to groom her."
"No no ma'am! We'll do it," one exclaimed.
"What are your names," I questioned as they began grooming.
"Mine is Timmy. And this is James," Timmy pointed to his friend.
"Jem. Call me Jem," Jem smiled slightly. "Real beauty she is."
"Yep. And my name's Scarlett," I snapped my fingers twice and Sesame came around the corner and sat down. "That's Sesame. And this is my unicorn baby, Storm-Brooke."
"We heard of you and your friends! Your the--" I cut him of with a shake of my head.
"No. We don't speak that around here," I growled.
"Sorry ma'am. We forgot," Timmy said softly. "Ain't you gotta pixie friend?"
"Yes she does. And I have a name," Windy rolled her eyes then muttered, "stupid half-wolves."
"Wow! We ain't never seen a pixie," Timmy had begun to approach her.
"Tim! Behave," Jem snapped. "We are almost done here miss."
"James Lighter and Timmy Wellbottom," Windy smiled. "Your full birth name isn't even Timothy! It's just Timmy."
"Yep miss pixie. But me and Tim gotta be going now. Nice meeting both ya'll," he smiled and dragged Timmy away.
"Ah. Finally some peace and quite," Windy exclaimed as soon as they left.
"Windy. What do you want," I asked, mounting Storm-Brooke.
"I'm here to say that I disappeared durning the battle and now I'm back! A wolf took me back to here as soon as the battle started," she flew and landed on Storm-Brooke's nose.
"And I care why? I can clearly see that you are fine, I never doubted you weren't, but it's so easy to tell thats not the real reason you're here," I sighed. "Hurry up and tell me, Windy, I don't have all day."
"Well you are right about me not being here for just that. Some one wants to see you. At the edge of the camp," Windy shrugged. "And I have no clue who wants to meet you."
"Fine," I growled. "When Cameron wakes up tell him I'm out with Sesame and Storm-Brooke practicing with my bow and arrows."
She smiled and promised she would before she flew off. Pixie can't lie I thought miserable as soon as she was gone. Well so much for that.
"Come on Sesame. Lets go," I clicked my tongue and Sesame raced off, Storm-Brooke trotted after her.
After 7 laps around the camp I finally stopped. Sesame flopped down, panting. I grinned and pulled out my bow. I fired three arrows into the nearest tree. I then snapped my fingers twice and clicked my tongue once. Sesame reluctantly stood up and walked over the tree. She pulled the arrows out then dropped them at Storm-Brooke's feet.
"Wow. Pretty darn awesome how much control you have over her," an voice said from what seemed like behind the tree.
"Sesame. Sit. Stay. No," I spoke firmly.
"Since you said that I'm guessing you know who I am," Taylor emerged from behind the tree.
"Yes I do know who you are. You're the asshole that drank a gallon of Shadower blood," I rolled my eyes and softly whistled.
"Why'd you whistle," Taylor asked just before Sesame tackled him to the ground.
"Now. What do you want from me. Answer like a good boy and I will let you stand up again," I smirked at his expression.
"I wanted to meet you here to say I'm sorry," Taylor muttered.
"Did anyone ever tell you that you suck at lying? Because you do," I sighed and drew my anima-gladio. "Get off of him Sesame."
"Thank you. But I wanted to make sure you were ok," Taylor blushed slightly. "It's instinct to worry about the real alpha. The alpha of Balinor."
"I'm fine," I said.
"You clearly hurt your ankle," he exclaimed.
"Let me tell you a story, Taylor," I sighed before going on. "I trained as a Shadow-Hunter. And I went to the training camp for five years, just like any other little kid who wanted to become a Shadow-Hunter. One week they decided to teach us pain. They broke one of our ankles and on the other foot they chipped the bone. Then you know what they did? They made us run five miles. Five miles every single day of that week at 2 in the morning. And that's of course not against the law cuz its 'training'. The next weeks they broke one of our wrists and chipped the bone on the same arm. Then they made us sword fight. For an hour at 2 in the morning. Then they went back to normal training days, not giving our injuries time to rest."
"That's horrible," he whispered.
"So you wonder if I'm ok? Well the answer will always be yes. I'll either be dead or fine. Pain is part of being a Shadow-Hunter," I jumped off of Storm-Brooke. "Now. What is the real reason you are here? The blush was pretty convincing but I'm not stupid. So do you want me to read your mind or do you want to speak why you are here."
"Zoe sent me," he blurted out.
"Good," I smiled. "Now why?"
"Dan is awake," Taylor muttered.
"Awesome. See wasn't that so easy to just spit it out," I growled. "And you might want to know, I get very impatient with pretty boys like you."
And with that I spun on my heel and raced Storm-Brooke straight to the hospital.
