Chapter Fourteen

Night turned to day and then night again. We all were exhausted but there hadn't been a hotel anywhere. They had debated just stopping mid day to sleep but had agreed it would be to dangerous to even stop. We had a system though, everyone slept except one person who served as a lookout and kept everyone going.

In the middle of the day I was awoken by Cameron who was the current lookout. He had awoken the others too. Cameron pointed to the horizon and we all squinted our eyes in the direction he pointed.

"Do you guys see it! It's a hotel," his voice was laced with tiredness and excitement.

"That's wonderful Cameron! Lets go," Dan said.

We had found a tame unicorn that had been abandon and had given it to Dan. He had named him Fatum which was Latin for destiny. We raced our unicorns to the hotel but when we got there, we slowed to a stop. Dan was in the lead and he cursed twice in Latin and stopped us.

"What's up Dan," I asked drawing my anima-gladio.

"Put that away! The last thing they need to know is we are shadow-hunters," Dan growled.

"Only shadow-hunters own those things eh," Cameron asked.

"Yes. Anima-gladio means 'soul sword' and hence their titles they bond to your soul. But if they bond to a person who can not bare marks then it sucks their soul out of their body, killing them," I said softly.

"Would you two shut up! Scarlett please tell me you have robes," Dan had backed us away from the hotel.

I reached into my personal bag and drew out 4 black robes. I handed one to each of them.

"Now if any of you say a word I will slit your throat. And keep the hood covering your face the whole time. Understand," he waited till we all nodded before explaining what he saw. "It's a pixie town. They will offer us a stay at there hotel. I will accept. And do not drink any of their drinks and don't eat any of their food. It's poisonous to anyone who's not a pixie. Now lets go."

Dan lead us around the hotel and to a dirt path. I then brought Storm-Brooke to Dan's side and had Toby and Cameron ride side by side. We rode on the dirt path until Dan turned abruptly. We then rode for two minutes before coming face to face with a blue pixie.

"And what do you think you are doing travelers," the pixie said flying up to remove Dan's hood.

"We need a place to stay for the night. We have come from a long way away from here and need to sleep. And of course you know that the Shadowers have been released," Dan spoke calmly staring into the pixies eyes.

"Yes of course. But we have not heard from the hunters that the Shadowers have been released," the pixies eyes narrowed. "Come and speak with my queen."

"I will. But first I need to get them," he paused and pointed at Dan and Cameron. "To a room. She will be coming with me to speak with the queen. After all she is the one who told me about the Shadowers."

"Yes yes. Of course. Come and let me show you all to a room. And once your settled then I will take you and your wife to the queen," the pixie had already started to fly towards the hotel.

"Excuse me miss pixie," I said speaking strongly. "You have it wrong. I am not married."

"So you do have a lover boy though. Only girls that love some one else speak up," she turned around, a small smile played on her face. "Let me guess the boy behind you on the white unicorn? Don't answer sweetie I know I'm right."
