"Mom? Dad?" I hear Brendon's voice. His voice sounds small and nervous. Oh my god, his parents are here. He never talks about them or mentions them, I'm questing they don't get along. "What-what are you guys doing here?" He asks them nervously.

"Well Brendon, I thought we would pick up the tradition again." I hear a strict male voice say. "Why are you giving us that look, boy." He says. I cringe and listen intensely.

"You guys haven't talked to me in five years and all of a sudden you show up at my doorstep, wouldn't you be making a confuse face too?" Brendon says. I can hear the nervousness he's trying to cover up with a strong voice leaking through his words.

"What are gonna do, just stand there? Invite us in boy." I hear the strict man say. Oh shit they're coming inside. I think fast and run up the staircase, taking a seat in the hall so I can hear the conversations and see what's going on. I listen as I watch a man the same height as Brendon and a woman who looks a lot like Brendon walk in. Brendon looks at the spot I was sitting in with a confused look. He then looks up the where I was and let's out a sigh of relief. I give him a thumbs up and a faint smile. He looks back at them, tugging at the end of his shirt

"Sweetie, this is quite a place you have here!" His mom said, trying to break down the tension. His dad just looks at him.

"It's not that nice." Brendon's dad says under his breath. I already hate this guy. Brendon's mom slaps his arm.

"Boyd!" She hisses, I think I like her. Brendon keeps nervously looking up at me.

"Five years." Brendon says, trying to keep his cool. "Care to explain?" He crosses his arms.

"We lost contact." He dad said, I see Brendon clench his fist.

"Lost contact? How can you just loose contact?" He says, still trying to keep he cool. "Why didn't you just ask Mason, Kyla, Matt, or Kara for my number?" He asks, directing the anger at is father.

"Maybe because they are actually doing something with their lives." Brendon's dad steps closer to Brendon. His moms mouth drops open. "Instead of just sitting around smoking weed and kissing guys like you, they are actually making money and have decent jobs." He says angrily. Woah woah, kissing guys?

"Maybe if you stayed in contact with me you would have know that I actually do have a life. You would have known that I actually have a more that decent job, that thousands of kids look up to me, that I'm a fucking millionaire!" Brendon says, loosing his chill. Brendon's mom lets out a small gasp. All of a sudden, something bad happens. I feel a tickling in my nose and I let out a loud sneeze. Everything goes silent, I try to back away but it's too late. Everyone turns to me, Brendon's eyes are wide with fear. This is going to go south real quick. Brendon's parents look back at him with a confused look. Brendon sighs and looks down.

"Syd, come down." He says. I do so and stand next to him. He looks over at me and puts his arm around me. "Mom, dad. This is probably the worst time for this." He looks down at me and pulls me a little closer. "But meet Sydney, my daughter." His parents look at me with a surprised look on their faces.

"You have a daughter?" Brendon's mom said. He nods and looks at his dad with a nervous look. "Brendon! That's wonderful! How old are you sweetheart?" She asked me.

"I'm sixteen." I reply. She looks up at Brendon confused.

"She's adopted, I adopted her." Her face lights up again.
