Chapter 40: Surprise!

"Alright so after New Perspective, I'll walk over and take the box okay?" He says, his hands shaking as he hands me the little blue box. I nod and he takes a deep breath, closing his eyes. God, he was really nervous.

"Brendon," I tuck the box into my back pocket. "Don't be nervous, you'll be fine." He looks down.

"Yeah but we've only been dating for like five months. What if she thinks it's too soon?" He asks, pacing back and forth now. I put my hands on his shoulders to stop him.

"Brendon, we've spent Christmas and New Years with her. She loves you very much." I tell him and he sighs.(A/N oops I forgot to talk about their Christmas and New Years, oops.) Then Zack walks in.

"I'm going to need you guys on side stage." He says. Brendon clenches his fists and starts to walk. I follow close behind. Ryan walks beside me.

"God, he's a mess." He says. I nod and look around.

"Yeah, he's really nervous." I put my ear pieces in so I can hear everything that was happening. Once we arrived at side stage, I quickly grabbed Ryan's white guitar and handed it to him as the intro played. It was still the same one from the first show. When it was over, they all went running out. Sarah walks over and stands at my side.

"They are good tonight." She says after three songs. I nod and smile over at her.

"Yeah, we had a longer soundcheck so..." I trail off. The set was going really well. Brendon copes with his nervousness through performing. After a while, it was time for New Perspective. Brendon nervously walks over and I hand him his guitar. He sighs and closes his eyes as he walks back out. He's really nervous now.

"Alright everyone, this is our second to last song." He says before starting to play the intro. The crowd goes wild and I touch my back pocket to make sure the the box was still there. I smile when my fingers touch the blue material. I look back to Brendon who was still wearing his silver, sparkly suit jacket. That's weird, he always take it off mid set.

Faster than I expected, the song was over and he looked at the guys who were all smiling. Brendon looks up and closes his eyes. He walks over and hugs me. What? He then slips his hand into my back pocket and grabs the box, slipping it into his suit jacket. He walks over to the mic and grabs the mic stand.

"So, this next song is going to be our last." He says. Everybody groans and he chuckles. "But it's also very special." He looks over at Sarah. "It's about my beautiful girlfriend, Sarah. I gently push her on to the stage and she puts her hands over her mouth. Brendon moves his mic stand so that it was facing her and he smiles nervously. The intro started and the crowd all got their phones out.

"I was fine just a guy living on my own, waiting for the sky to fall, but you've come and changed it all, doll." He sings, grabbing her hand. This is too cute oh my god. My heart, my teenage heart. Sarah's hand was still in Brendon's while the other was over her mouth. Brendon pulls her more on stage and she follows him. He takes his mic off the stand.

"Sarah smile like Sarah doesn't care, she lives in this world so unaware." He pulls her closer and puts his arm around her waist. "Does she know that my destiny lies with her." He sings, looking into her eyes. This is way too adorable.

"Of Sarah, are you saving me?" The song ends and the crowd goes wild. Brendon pulls her in for a kiss while Ryan and Jon frantically calmed the crowd. Brendon pulls away and smiles down at her. She sniffed and wiped a stray tear away. Brendon lifts the mic to his mouth.

"Sarah, you really did save me. And, you have a beautiful smile. You are my everything." He says, I literally think I can't take this cuteness. "I remember when we first met back in 2008. You told my I looked like I had a bowl on my head," The audience laughed and he turned to them. "Yeah yeah, I get it. Blame Ryan." He turns back to Sarah.

"I remember that show, you watched from side stage." He brushes hair out of her face. "I remember the parties we would go to as friends. I lost a bet and I had to wear your heels for the rest of the night." He covers the mic just enough for them to still hear him and coughs into the mic. "Future song reference." He then turns back to Sarah.

"I remember when I found out you were my girlfriend at the times roommate, I was happy to see you again." He says. She was smiling at him while he puts his hand in hers. "I remember when she kicked you out after I broke up with her and how scared you were. I gave you the spare room the first night but, you ended up sleeping in mine." He smirks and she slaps his arm. Everyone get the joke and makes a few comments.

"You and Syd are inseparable and you always stand up for her, another reason why I love you." He steps away from her and looks down. "That's why I want to ask you something." Here it comes! He looks back at her and smiles, I think she knows what happening because she was putting her hands over her mouth. He grabs her hand and gets down on one knee. This triggered everybody to freak out. He runs his thumb over her skin. Her other hand covered her mouth as happy tears run down her face.

"Sarah I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want you to be the mother of Syd, I want you to be mine." He lets go of her hand and reaches into his coat. When Sarah sees the box, she gasps. "Sarah," He pauses and opens the box. "Will you marry me?" He asks be she covers her mouth with both hands. Tears stream down her face as she nods frantically. She then removed her hands from her mouth and smiles widely.

"Yes brendon, I will marry you." She manages to get out. Brendon gives her an open mouth smile and slips the ring on her finger. He stands up and they start hugging. I can't make out what he's saying but he's whispering stuff in her ear and smiling. This is so beautiful. He pulls away, still holding her hand.

"She said yes!" He yells into the mic before hugging her again. He looks over at me and pulls away. "Hey Syd, I have a surprise for you too." He says with a smile, he turns to Sarah and she nods. He motions me to come on stage so I do so. Ryan hands me his mic as the crowd cheers for me.

"Hey guys." I say smiling before walking to sarah, hugging her and congratulating her. Brendon smiles at me. 

"Alright kid, the two of us have a surprise for you." He says.

"I like surprises." I say. He reaches into his coat and pulls out in envelope. It was blue like my adoption one. He hands it to me and I put my mic between my side and my arm pit. I tear it open and pull out a glossy picture. Then I notice what the picture was and I cover my mouth.

It was an ultrasound.

I turn to them and start pointing at the picture. "Is this really?!" I say. Brendon chuckles and nods, pulling Sarah closer. "Oh my god I'm going to be a big sister!" I scream and the mic drops from under my arm. The audience heard me and started freaking out. Brendon lifts the mic to his mouth as I walk over to him and hug him. "There we go, I've got all three of my girls." He says, smiling down at me. I gasp.

"It's a girl?!" I say and Sarah chuckles.

"Yes it's a girl." She smiles and I put my hand on her stomach.

Oh my god, I'm going to be a big sister.
