•ONE MONTH LATER•
"Hey girlie." Sarah said as I got into her car. Since Brendon has been busy in the studio most of the time and school has started again, Sarah took the job of picking me up from school.
"Hey!" I say, putting my bag in the back seat before getting in the front.
"So, how was school?" She asked, starting up the car again. I buckle my seatbelt and brush my hand through my hair.
"Great. Having that free period really helps. I don't have to worry about homework because of it." I say. She puts on her sunglasses and smiles. Since my school has a pretty cool principle, he replaced my required PE period with a spare period. He said that it would help if we go on any more tours during the school yeah.
"Speaking of homework, do you have any?" She asks. I nod.
"I just need to finish my PowerPoint for my English class and I'm good." I say, looking out the window.
"Nice." She says.
"Oh and guess what! I think I wrote a guitar riff that will fit one of the songs we're working on real well." I say excitedly.
"Cool, I'm sure Brendon will be happy to hear that." She says with a smile. "Speaking of which, how's your advanced music class thing?" I groan and roll my eyes.
"Don't even get me started." I say. She giggles. You see, I take two music classes. The first one is the same one I took last school year. The second one is an 'advanced' one. Literally, I'm the only one in the class who isn't in the orchestra or band program.
The teacher hates my guts too. He doesn't call me Sydney Urie, he calls me Sydney Mathews even though the school changed my name to Sydney Urie. He also doesn't get that I play more than guitar. Whenever we have free instrument playing time, I try to go for other instruments but everything, he take them from my hands and says "Why don't you just stick to your guitar, I don't want you to break this." Agh, well at least the people in the class are cool.
As soon as we arrive, she hands me my backpack. "Hey, tell Brendon I'll be back in a few hours. I have to run some errands." She says as I open the door.
"Sure thing, bye." I say, shutting the door. I walk up the the front door and open it, walking inside and set my bag by the door.
"Hey beebo, I'm home!" I shout. No response. "Brendon?" I call. Still nothing. I sigh and start looking around. Well he's not in the house, maybe in the studio. I slide open the door, letting Bogart and Penny run past me. I walk to the studio to find the door already unlocked. I open it to find Brendon sitting on the desk chair, talking to three other people.
"-And if we can, then tour should run smoothly." Brendon says, spinning in his chair slightly. Then, he sees me. He jumps and his eyes grow wide. He takes off his glasses. "Syd! What are you doing here?" He asked.
"I, um, live here." I say looking at the three people. The three people where Spencer, Ryan, and...wait. Wait a minute! Is that Jon Walker? It is! "Brendon what's going on?" I ask, confused. He sighs and looks at me and then at them.
"First off, Syd, I want you to meet Jon Walker." He says. Jon stands up and walks over to me. "Ex-Bassist."
"Nice to meet you, Syd." He says, smiling and shaking my hand.
"Nice to meet you too." I say suspiciously. "Now can someone please explain to me what is going on?" I ask. Brendon sighs and looks down. Ryan leans back into the couch, running his hands through his hair and Spence is messing with his engagement ring. Brendon finally speaks up.
"We've been thinking, all of us." He looks the guys as Jon sits back down. "One day, Spence, Ryan and I all got together and just talked. We all have at least once thought about a..." He pauses and looks back at me. "A reunion tour." What! "We then called Jon and he thought the same. So he flew down here to talk to us about it."
"A reunion tour?!" I say with a smile. "Oh my god."
"This winter, it's happening Syd." Ryan says with a smile.
"Wow, guys this is insane. Is any of current panic! coming?" I ask. Brendon thinks.
"Well Dan of course, he was our drum tech before he joined. You can come if you want to, maybe be our assistant guitar tech." Brendon offers.
"Could I come?" I ask. He nods and smiles.
"Yeah, you just need to let your teachers know as soon as possible." He says, spinning in his chair. He then stops quickly in his chair and points at me. "Oh! And don't you tell anyone that this is happening." He says in his strict voice. "This is between us." I nod.
"This is so cool!" I whisper as I leave the studio. I've found that one of the coolest parts about being in a band is keeping secrets. This means keeping release dates, tours, and music from the fans. It's just so exciting.
I try push that out of my mind temporary so I can finish my homework. I pull out my computer and get working.
In my English class, each row of desks was given a subject to do a PowerPoint on. My rows was "Your Life."
"Give us your life story." I remember my teacher telling us. I sigh and get working.
•THE NEXT DAY•
"Alright! Sydney, you're up." My English teacher, Ms. White said. I smile and bring my computer to the front of the room, connecting it to the overhead. Once it was connected, I turn to face the class.
"Hello everyone." I start. "My PowerPoint subject was my life." I say. "And what's a better place to start then the very beginning." I click the clicker, making the next slide show up.
"I was born in Seattle, Washington on April 3rd to Harris and Molly Mathews. I lived there until I was three. I was moved to a foster home after being in a car crash with my parents, leaving me the only survivor." This feels so weird telling people my life story.
"Fast forward a few years and three foster homes later, I am put in a foster home owned by a lady named Jamie. She had two kids named Misty and Riley." I switch to the next slide. "This was the last foster home I ever lived in. Then," I switched to the next slide that talked about being adopted. "I was adopted at age fifteen."
"How who in here knows the band Panic! At The Disco?" I ask. About three people raise there hands. "Wow, not a lot. Well as it turned out, I was adopted by their lead singer, Brendon Urie." This is kinda fun.
"He took me on their spring tour." People's reactions were funny. "Little did I know, just a few weeks later, I would be a part of the band." I switches slides to a picture of us all together, the crowd behind us. I hear one kid whisper, "That's a lot of people."
"The spring tour was a success and when I came back, I gathered a few friends and my now boyfriend, and we won second place in the school talent show." I say, switching to the left slide.
"Then, I was nominated for an APMA. For those who don't know what APMA stands for, it's Alternative Press Music Awards. I was nominated for Best Guitarist of the year." I switch to the next slide. "I was up against people like Tony Perry and many others and I ended up winning. I spent the whole afterparty hugging the award." I showed a picture of me hugging the award and everybody laughed.
"Now we are up to date." I say with smile. "I'm very much looking forward to the future. Our next album comes out January 15th, our next tour is full of surprises I can't talk about yet, and I'm looking forward to all this." I switch to the next slide. "After high school, I plan to take my music career even farther." I say, finishing my presentation. Everybody claps and I smile. Well that was easy.
