Baking

To [Name], the family bakery was more than a bakery; it was a place she could call home. With its warm atmosphere and friendly environment, it was no wonder why the small place was a destination for tourists, especially those with a fondness for all things sweet, to go. Every dish, whether it be the accidently burnt cookies to give to the stray dogs or the wedding cake for the [Last Name]'s neighbors, was filled up to the brim with love. She loved the place and nothing in the world could make her stop doing so.

The jingle of the bell brought her out of the backroom. Her hair, which was usually down, was now in a messy bun covered with a net. The apron was tossed away haphazardly, exposing one of her many graphic t-shirts. With a smile that could melt anyone in their place, she opened her mouth to say the one line that she had been practicing for a while now. "Welcome to Sweet Dreams, where we hope to make your sweetest dreams come true! How may I help you today!"

The man smiled back to her. A bell ringed in her head as her smile grew wider. "Kiyoshi-kun! I haven't seen you in a while! How have you been?" [Name] asked. He leaned over the counter, his huge body easily covering half of the space. "Well, practices have been shortened because of upcoming finals," he said," Everyone's worried about Kagami and the other first years, so we've been helping them study." She nodded. Honestly, everything but Japanese History was easy to her. For some reason, remembering the dates and the different shogunates have never been an easy thing for her to do. "Well, if you guys ever need some inspiring snacks, just ask me. I think what you guys are doing is great and I want to help in anyway possible!" she exclaimed. He rubbed the back of his head. "Actually, that's what I was coming here for. All of the single people were going to have a study session during Valentine's Day. I was hoping you could cook something for us," he stated.

"I would love to! I found this macaron recipe that I really want to try. Would that be okay?" she asked. Kiyoshi clapped his hands together, the sound echoing throughout the empty room. "I think everyone would love that," he said. She reached under the counter to grab a notepad and a pen. Hastily writing down everything she needed to remember, she looked back up at him. "There you go! Is that all you need?" He nodded and bowed. "Thank you so much, [Last Name]-san," he said with sincerity. She blushed in embarrassment. "Jeez, you don't have to go that far." He smiled. "Sorry, sorry. I got carried away. If there's anything to need, please don't hesitate to ask me. You've helped us many times with those delicious honey lemons that you made for us. Well, see you later!" He turned away.

"Wait! Actually, there is something that you could help me with!" Kiyoshi stopped in his tracks and turned towards her. "Um... Well, are you friends with Hyūga-san?" she asked. He considered it for a moment before speaking. "I would think so," he reasoned. [Name] took a deep breath before saying anything. The blush on her face darkened. "What... What do you think he would like for Valentine's Day?" She brushed a strand of hair behind her ear and looked the other way. She had never told another living soul (or in this case, hinted) about her crush of the clutch shooter of Seirin High. He cocked his head to the side and stood there, thinking about her question. Finally, he found the answer he was looking for.

"Honestly, I think he would like anything that was made with love."

And with that, Kiyoshi walked out of the bakery.

"And... done!"

She sat back in a chair, finally satisfied with the results. The chocolate cake before her was magnificent. The recipe she used to make it was one that she made herself. It took weeks of testing the different flavor combinations before she found one she was happy with. The cake was a simple marble cake with a hint a peppermint covered in a chocolate ganache, which wasn't surprising seeing as she planned to give this to Hyūga for Valentine's Day. The sides were decorated with hearts made of white chocolate dyed a light pink. The edges of the cake were adorned with a simple white buttercream frosting that she had piped all by herself. Honestly, it was a beautiful cake.
