Faithful
"Oi, Bartender! Get us another round of beers!"
[Name] sighed and put her hair in a tighter bun. She turned around to one of her many regulars and glared. "Don't ya think ya have had enough, ya lazy jackasses? 'nd especially you, [Boy's Last Name]!" she yelled. The guys around him laughed out loud and jabbed him in the side. "Jeez, [First Name]! Can't you lay off of a guy sometimes?" he asked allowed. She rolled her eyes. "The day I do that is the day ya stop drinkin'," she commented," 'nd the way it seems, that might be forever. And it's [Last Name]!"
She quickly grabbed four frosty mugs and poured beer into them. She wrote down their order onto their slip and put it away. "Here ya go," she said, handing them each their drinks. They grabbed them, laughed, and cheered. She suppressed the urge to smile. While it had its many downfalls, working at a bar had its moments.
Suddenly, she caught a glimpse of dark blue hair. She smirked and walked over to where he sitting. "Aomine-kun~! Such a privilege to see ya again. What has made ya grace us with ye'r pres-" She stopped talking when he saw him. She hadn't noticed it before, but his hair was disheveled and looked like he had just woke up from a long nap. Judging from the bags underneath his eyes, her prediction was wrong. He looked down at his feet. She swallowed the feeling of dread in her and tapped his shoulder over the counter.
"[Last Name], I'm not in the mood. Get me a beer," he mumbled. His voice sounded hoarse. When he looked up, she could see the prominent red around his eyes. She took her hand back away from him. "Um, yea. Sure," she quickly said. Her movements felt robotic as she got him his drink. She looked down to make sure that no one was waiting for her. Seeing that there was no one, she turned back towards Aomine.
"What the hell is wrong with ya, Dai-chan?" she hissed under her breath. Seeing that her nickname that she has made up in her childhood had not elicited a reaction to him, she pushed the drink towards him. She could see him shaking as he grabbed a hold of the handle and drank. He put it down rather loudly and looked at her in the eyes. Rather breathlessly, he told her what was wrong in a voice that made her want to jump over and hug him right there.
"The baby... I-It's not mine. She wants a divorce, [Last Name]..."
A gasp left her mouth. Even though there was chatter all around them, [Name] felt like there was silence all around them. "That can't be. You guys have been together since... since forever!" she said loudly, getting unwanted attention from strangers nearby. She gave them a swift glare and focused back onto Aomine. He had gone back to drinking his mug until it was gone. "I want another one." She nodded and filled his glass back up.
She left him for a while to tend to other patrons. She was unusually quiet, which had shocked her usual customers. After helping a waitress carry an unusually large order to one of the back tables, she went back to Aomine. She saw that he had drank half of his glass before falling asleep. She sighed and crossed her arms. "I know ye'r tired, but that doesn't mean ya hafta fall asleep...," she mumbled to herself. She knew she shouldn't stare, but any opportunity to look at his face without him judging was one that she would take.
Shaking her head to stop herself from looking at him, [Name] walked over to [Girl's Name] and put her hand on the younger girl's shoulders. "I'm sorry for dumpin' all of this on ya, but I gotta take this idiot home. Do ya think that the new hire and ya are able to take care of this all?" she asked. [Girl's Name] slapped the smaller man, who was affectionately called new hire despite being the second oldest member of the establishment, on the back. He glared at her with a pout on his face. "Don't worry, [Last Name]-san. I've managed worse with less staff," he said confidently. She sighed and gave them both a grateful look.
" 'nd... Up!" She grunted as she lifted the bulky male off of his chair. It was times like this that she was glad that she was one of those rough and tough females. With her superior leg strength, she dragged him around the bar and into her car. It was difficult stuffing him in there, especially since she had learned that he liked to kick in his sleep. The whole ordeal took some time, but she was able to get to her apartment safe and sound.
Parking her car, she looked over to the male who was making small noises. "I swear to god if ya havin' a dirty dream, I'll knock ya a new one," she grumbled while turning her car off. A gruff voice made her stop in her tracks. "Shut up, Imayoshi. I don't wanna go to practice." She could feel her anger rising. Her fists clenched. "Just 'cause that idiot is my cousin don't mean that I'm him!" she exclaimed, hitting him on the head.
Aomine woke up with a start, looking around wildly. Once he looked at her, he slouched in his sleep. "You hit like an old man, [Last Name]," he said. She crossed her arms. "Old men can actually hit pretty hard, so I'm takin' that is a compliment," she commented, opening the car door and swinging her legs over. The male did the same thing. She watched as he looked over the apartment complex. "This isn't where I live...," he mumbled. She walked over to him and poked his side. "Of course it ain't, dummy. This is where I live. I don't know nothin' about where ya 'nd yer wife-" She was about to go on, but she stopped when she mentioned his significant other.
Watching the variety of emotions he expressed made it look like reality had just punched Aomine in the gut. Sadness, anger, betrayal, guilt... The whole spectrum of heartbreak had made its way onto his face. He leaned onto her car, grasping his face in his hands. [Name] could see that he was shaking. She gently put her hand on his shoulder. "Oi, I thought tough men didn't cry," she said softly. He looked down on her. Her heart was breaking along with his. She patted her shoulder. "Don't ya worry! My shoulder will always be there for ya!"
Almost reluctantly, he buried his face into her shoulder. [Name] could feel his tears soaking up her shirt, but she didn't mind. She had experienced this feeling before when her ex-boyfriend in high school had cheated on her with one of her close friends. Aomine had been there to pick up the broken pieces of her heart. She intended to do the same thing for him.
"Ya know, I never thought yer relationship with [Wife's Name] would've lasted for this long. She always seemed like she only liked ya for yer appearance," she confessed quietly. He didn't reply, but his shaking stopped. She took that as an excuse to keep on going. "I've always thought that ya were a really good guy. I mean, sure yer pretty perverse, but yer always there for people. Plus, yer awfully honest. Not a lotta guys are like that." She traced small circles into his back. After a moment of silence, he pushed her away.
He looked at her as if he was studying something he had never seen before. She blushed and gave him a glare. "Hasn't ya ma ever told ya that starin' at people was rude? I swear ya grew up in a barn," she said, walking past him. Before she was too far away from him, she was yanked back. A pair of lips was pressed onto hers. Before she could react, he pulled away. "You hit like an old man and kiss like an old man," he dryly commented. Having been to her apartment before, he walked into the building while twirling the keys that he had taken while they shared their kiss.
Despite her best efforts, [Name] could not move herself from her spot. Her eyes were wide eyed, which was unusual of her because she shared the same eyes that her cousin did. She touched her lips. She could still feel the warmth of his lips. Her heartbeat sped up and her hands felt clammy. Her eyes returned to their normal size when she realized what exactly Aomine had said. Like a beast who had been freed from its cage, she let out a great roar.
"I swear to god, ya'll be missin' yer left nut when I'm through with ya!"
