Too Much to Handle

With [Name], he was confused.

Confused about what she was thinking.

Confused about how happy she was.

Confused about how much she loved him.

She was troublesome, and it made him wonder why he could love her at times.

With Midorima, she was happy.

Happy about being around him.

Happy about seeing that cute blush on his face.

Happy about how she could be able to love someone this much.

He was her precious treasure that she made sure to love till the end of time.

"I can't be with you anymore."

She could remember how the curt words flew out of his mouth.

She could remember how she stopped in the middle of the sidewalk and looked up at him.

She could remember the tears that started to form in her eyes.

"Why?"

He could remember the tremble in her voice as she said the one word.

He could remember how he let go of her shaking hand and placed his own in his pocket.

He could remember how unnaturally calm he was.

"I thought I could deal with your... situation. I now realize I can't."

Her mind went blank from shock.

Her whole body shook in anger as tears started to spill down her cheeks.

She didn't even know how to deal with herself.

"You... You told me you understood!"

She looked up at him and clenched her fists.

He looked down and shook his head.

"I'm sorry, [Last Name]."

Her breathing grew labored as she clutched her head.

"I'm trying to get better. I swear I am... Why are you leaving me?"

Her voice was small.

She wasn't used to that.

Memories that were kept suppressed suddenly popped up in her head.

She wasn't used to that.

Her legs buckled underneath her.

She wasn't used to that.

He looked down at her small shaking form.

A part of him wanted to apologize and comfort her.

A part of him wanted to walk away.

So he did just that.

She looked up.

She looked up at his back.

She looked up at his retreating form.

Her arm reached out instinctively.

"Please come back... I'll do better... I'm sorry..."

And yet as she said those words, she knew.

They could never go back to who they were.
