First Words

"Wah, show it again, Mitobe-senpai!"

The raven haired man raised one of his eyebrows in response. She fumbled over her words before she finally found the ones that she wanted. "You know! Your arm thing! Arm signature thing!" she exclaimed. Cocking his head to the side, he pointed to his left arm. She nodded vigorously. He rolled his sleeve up to show her the words that made her jealous to her very soul.

Um... Are you Mitobe-senpai?

The handwriting was loopy, so it was most likely a girls. It had to be someone that was a first year like her or younger. She frowned. The reason why she never confessed to Mitobe was because he already had found his soulmate. She tenderly touched the part of her arms where her own soulmate's writing should be. She wiped the frown off her face and smiled back at Mitobe. He pointed at her arm. She shrugged. "I... I haven't found them yet," she said. He patted her back, and she looked at him gratefully for his kind gesture.

She sighed and leaned back on the bench they were sitting in. She let the warm breeze run through her hair. "Do you remember?" she asked. Mitobe stayed silent, not understanding the question. She rolled her head towards him. "Do you remember what you were doing when you first met her?" she clarified. It took him a while to tell her the story using hand-signs, but he was able to in the end. According to him, she was asked to give him in copies of basketball flyers that were let laying in the printer. [Name] looked back up towards the sky. "Kinda reminds me when we first met," she commented. She doubted that it was herself. It would make more sense to use to printers at once to save time. It was a stretch, but she knew that she wasn't his soulmate. If she was, then his handwriting would be on her arm.

Then again, had she actually ever heard him utter a word?

[Name] straighten up quickly, startling Mitobe. She had never heard him speak. Hope was imbued into her. She still had a chance!

She looked over to Mitobe. He had his hand over his heart. She smiled at him meekly. "Um... Mitobe-senpai, can you actually speak?" she asked timidly. He nodded while looking a little offended. She blushed and look the other way. "I'm sorry! It's just I've never heard you speak, and you've never told me if you were mute so..." Her voice trailed off. He took her hands, which caused her to blush even more. He smiled.

As he leaned over to her ear, she couldn't even take a breath. This was it. This moment would decide whether or not she was his soulmate. Every second that he waited felt like an eternity to her. She starting shaking in nervousness. What if they weren't soulmates? She had heard of relationships beyond the soulmate bond. However, they were extremely hard and almost never lasted for a long time.

Finally, he uttered four little words that made her heart soar. She was sure that her face rivaled the colors of a fire truck. Yet, she felt disappointed. She had always heard rumors that people would feel a tingling on their arm when they spoke to their soulmate for the first time. She had felt no such thing. She looked down, frowning.

Mitobe patted her arm, telling her in his own special way to look at her arm. She doubted the there was anything on there. However, she still rolled up her sleeve. Her eyes widened as the ending of a messy scrawl appeared onto her forearm. She could feel herself tear up in happiness. [Name] looked up at Mitobe, who just smiled at her and caressed her cheek. She suddenly hugged him, almost making him fall back on the bench.

The words that he had said and what was written on her arm still echoed in her mind.

"I love you, [First Name]"

I don't know if he can actually talk. My personal opinion is that he only saves his words for the important things in life, like this moment above.
