Hey guys :) great news!! My story got ranked today!! 232!! And I'm super happy.. However that was the effect of a huge spurt of votes from a few readers going Jake (crazy) all over their vote buttons.. Thank you guys so much!!

Also, another thing I've been meaning to do is try and get a better cover.. Though I have NO CLUE how to do it.. Would any of you be able to spare some advice on making one?

-----------------chapter 16 begins here--------------

She was late.. Well that was considering she was coming..

I was feeling kind of restless so I got up and peeked through the vines. Still not here.. What was with her?

It was already 4:00 and I was starting to think she wouldn't show.

Maybe she wasn't coming.. I figured that was the final verdict. Unsure of what to do now, I looked back at the spot I was sitting on, before finally deciding to walk off. That is before I crashed into someone..

As I fell over backwards, I caught a glimpse of Isa stumbling backwards, before regaining her balance.

She looked at me on the ground and giggled.. Why oh why was it always me on the ground??

As her giggle streak came to an end, I racked my brains for something to say.. I couldn't believe it.. Half an hour of preparation- only to go blank just when i needed it.

"You're late" I blurted out. And immediately cursed myself.

Great job! I thought to myself. Tell her she's late and then ask her to be friends!! Freaking brilliant!! But her reply wasn't the expected one. Instead, she just looked down and said "I'm sorry"

I was confused.. I wasn't expecting her to apologize..

"OHMIGOD you're pouting!!!" She said- succumbing to the giggles again.

Was I pouting? I thought to myself- shocked. I quickly straightened out my face.

"Anyways," I said- changing the topic. "You wanna sit down and talk?"

"Yeah, I'd like that"

I picked a spot far from the river. God knows that if I fell in another time, I'd just die of embarrassment. As she sat down beside me, I stole a glance at her face. I'd tell you all how she looked, but I couldn't possibly put it into words.. And even if I could, I didn't want to share that moment with anyone else..

I started first. I had to get this friendship thing sorted out before I lost track of what I was thinking.. Damn was she distracting! "So.. Friends?" I asked, unable to look into her eyes- fearing the answer she might give..

"Yep, that's good with me" she said. I looked up at her- she had a huge grin plastered across her face. "I wasn't sure how to ask either"

I started to smile as well.. At least I wasn't the only one feeling awkward at the moment..

"Weird thing that we're meeting and nothing crazy is happening around us.." I started.

"I know right?" She replied- giggling a bit. "We can actually sit and talk about normal stuff.. God knows how long it'll take before we can do that again.."

She was right.. We actually had a chance to get to know each other "So what do you do all day?" I asked her.

"I read mostly.. Occasional tv and chilling with friends- bowling, paintball, video games.. How 'bout you?"

Video games? My jaw dropped to the floor.. GG girl, well played!

"Well,  I have to do my daily errands.. And after that I have an evening shift in a store.."

"And do these errands take long?"

"Sometimes they take the full day. Other times I'm off by lunch"

As we chatted, I noticed how her hair slowly moved back and forth in the light breeze. How the light of the sunset made her eyes sparkle. How her face looked while she said my name.. And again- this time- with sound. Wait was she calling me??

I snapped back to reality- only to realize I was staring at her face! I knew my face was turning a deep red as I fumbled around desperately for something to say..

"Earth to Marcus. Earth to Marcus" I heard her say.

"Yeah?" I asked, trying to remember what she was saying.

"Your phone's ringing" she replied.

Suddenly, my sense of hearing seemed to expand to encompass my phone- which was playing the Pokemon theme song.. I looked down at it.. It was 6:45.. I had to start back..

"You need to go?" She asked.

My jaw dropped yet again.. "How did you guess??" I asked.

"Well when you were busy staring at me, I looked down and read what your alarm said.." She replied.

If my cheeks weren't red before, they were definitely red now.. I had absolutely nothing to say at this point..

"I better get going.." I said. "I have a late shift tonight and tons of errands for tomorrow"

"That's a pity," She replied. "I was wondering if we could meet again"

I was shocked. I mean I didn't think her intentions of wanting to meet me were as selfish as my intentions of wanting to meet her. But still, i definitely wanted to meet her again.. I guess I could ask Jake or someone to fill in for me with the errands?

"I guess I might be able to work something out" I said- with a weak smile

"Cool. Meet me at 1:15 here tomorrow" she said- that grin appearing on her face again.

"Well I guess I'll see ya around" I said, getting up to leave.

"See ya" she said, before we went our separate ways..
