Hey guys 2k views :) the story is making great progress thanks to all of you <3

------------ start of chapter 23------------

As I walked to the bridge, i thought about my situation. I had been thinking about it since the meeting with Lance.

I didn't know enough to predict what he would do to Isa. However, all my thinking did throw some light on it. I wouldn't be allowed to live.

After I had completed my purpose, I'd be nothing but a loose end. And if I failed/ rejected the mission? I'd still be a loose end. And knowing Lance, he wouldn't just leave me out there.

--------------------------------------------

Earlier that morning

I looked down at the black flip phone. There was a new message

By the end of the flipsyde 5 months from now the plan must be in motion.

Otherwise.. No loose ends. You and her both.

Back to the present

If I had to die, I wanted it to be at the starting of the flipsyde- this would ensure mom, Christopher and Dave had enough time to get over me before becoming poor again.

But then again, I didn't want to die.. All these events of the past few days made me realize how attached I was to everyone- mom, Christopher, Isa, and Jake. I definitely didn't want to leave them behind anytime soon.

The memories of my life washed over me- my first day in kindergarten, the time I almost got ran over by a car, the time Christopher drew a bomb on my painting of a mountain scenery, the laughs I shared with my family, the adventures with my friends, and the one-sided feelings for Isa.

"Speed up kid, we're on a schedule remember?"

My thoughts dissolved- pushing me back into reality. Isa was standing in front of the bridge with an expression of anxiety on her face.

"Come on! We're lateeeeee" she said- pulling me behind her. "We have to be there and back by the time you need to leave!!!"

Worry about Isa and the job at hand wriggled their way into my mind. But I pushed them to the back of my mind. I wouldn't let Lance determine the rest of my time with Isa.

Even if they led to a false goal, I would make sure that the memories I had with Isa were real.

--------------------------------------------

As we walked out of the video game arcade, I pumped my fist in the air in triumph.

Isa looked at me approvingly. "Not bad at all"

35-31. I don't know how I did it, but I had finally beaten her in something.

"Not bad?" well I guess that's alright.. "Until you realize that the guy who was 'not bad' beat you" I taunted.

Isa laughed. I took in every detail- not wanting to miss even a moment of it. I didn't know how many of those I had left to see.

-------------end of chapter 23--------------

I know this chapter is puny.. I'll be putting up another (small) one to make up for the size so keep reading :)
