Hey guys :) another chapter :) hope you guys like it

------------ chapter 9 starts here-------------

As I jogged to the wall, I started thinking about the meeting ahead of me. I was feeling somewhat happy. No I didn't forget about christopher. Nor was it because I had a meeting with a pretty girl.

It was because she let me go.

Yeah she pushed me out of a window, but honestly, if she wanted me caught, she'd definitely have turned me in when I passed out. Today wasn't a trap. She actually wanted to talk to me. And if she wanted to talk to me, that means she would listen as well.. I could convince her to help christopher.

Of course that didn't mean I didn't want to meet her either. I kinda did want to see her again. I had to know if she really was the person I had seen in her eyes all those nights ago.

I deviated off of last time's route- towards the left- so I could reach the part of the wall closest to the bridge.

After I found a good spot, I started to climb. It was harder with the pain from before, but along with my determination to save christopher, I now had curiosity as well as the knowledge that I could do it.

I knew this was still going to be a long climb, but I was ready this time- for whatever was ahead of me.

Thirty feet, two almost-falls and a lifetime's worth of pain later, I lay down -half dead- on the wall promising myself that I would never, ever underestimate the climb again.

-------------------------------------

The bridge was around 15 feet long, traversing a small stream. It was covered with thin, light green vines- which appeared as if to form a carving on the sides of the bridge. As if this wasn't beautiful enough, some vines hung off the edge, blocking an area under the bridge from view, as the stream flowed by lazily- appearing to sparkle in the light. No doubt this was one of the most beautiful sights to see on the rich side.

Of course the beauty of the bridge made it a frequent meeting place for couples. I had found that out the awkward way when I was 8, and had walked in on a couple kissing under the vines. The girl immediately blushed and ran away. I'm pretty sure the guy still is plotting my murder.

As I peeked between the vines to make sure I wouldnt disturb anyone, I heard a voice behind me. "I didn't think you'd come." It startled me- making me jump and land in the stream.

I turned around- it was her. She looked towards my partially wet jeans and giggled.

The wall, the last day to help christopher, and now this.. Could this day get any worse??

Here is a disclaimer! For all those of you with bad luck streaks, don't ever tempt fate like that!!

Because just when I thought that, I lost my footing and fell face first into the water.

I couldn't see for a second, but I heard her fits of laughter, and had just enough time to see her fall over onto the ground- still laughing.

I got up, dried off as much as possible and waited for her to stop laughing. It took a while, but finally she opened her eyes.

They were a light caramel brown. Not my favorite eye color, not by a long shot. But wow did they work on her!

She spoke first. "Hi, I'm Isabelle. But you can call me Isa"

"Hi I'm Marcus. You can call me Marcus"

She laughed. "Gosh that was so bad!"

I laughed a bit too.

"So why did you let me go?"

I didn't know how to explain this to her. I saw it in your eyes? No that wouldn't work!! That sounded like it was something from a movie!

"Umm, I'm not exactly sure how to explain it." I started. "I kinda saw this innocent girl in your eyes- someone who didn't seem to have a choice. And I just couldn't keep you there. Nor could I kill you.. It just didn't feel right"

I knew she'd take me for crazy and leave. Probably say I just left her alive because she was beautiful or something..

But instead, she just nodded.

"And why did you let me go from your room?"

She gestured towards the space under the vines. "You don't want to be seen on this side."

I headed underneath the vines and she followed. As soon as we sat down, she continued talking. "I just had to repay the favor. And if nothing else, I had to know why you let me go, and how you found me again"

I slowly started to explain the whole story to her- making sure not to make it too descriptive that she loses track, but not too short that she feels I'm hiding something from her.

"So you think I'm pretty?" She asked.

I cursed under my breath. I'd forgotten to exclude that part from my story! I started to apologize as she cut me off.

"Dont worry about it" she said. "It's just a compliment- chill out"

I smiled weakly. This was going to be the hard part- telling her why I was here.

But before I got to it, she started speaking. "I assume you still need the money?"

"Yes! Please I'll do anything-" I started, before she cut me off.

"You've already done enough for me." She said, reaching back into a previously unseen hole in the side of the bridge and pulled out my backpack.

I frowned. I wasn't sure what she meant. Was it a good thing or a bad thing? It didn't sound like either- leaving me totally unsure about her intentions. I took the backpack as she offered it to me. It was heavier than it normally is when empty.

I opened the zip to see big bundles of cash inside. My heart jumped and my eyes brimmed with tears. I was at a loss for words. "Really?" Was all I managed to utter.

She nodded, smiling weakly. "It's the value of the stuff I found in the backpack. I figured with everything going on, you needed it pretty bad to come raid. Obviously it's worse than I expected. I hope it's enough?"

I nodded- tears flowing freely. "Thank you," I managed to utter before turning around and taking off towards the wall. Christopher was saved!!
