Hey guys :) I hope you enjoyed the moments of happiness.. They took long enough to get here..

------------chapter 26 starts here------------

"- and that's how I decided I loved you.. But even after all the time I spent thinking, I was unable to solve the problem of Hans. I knew I couldn't do it- not alone at least. So I thought I'd ask you for help."

I was taken aback. I couldn't believe this was happening.. I stumbled backwards onto the ground- unable to comprehend what I'd just heard... "You said you love me..."

"Yes I did.." She replied- her cheeks turning a bright cherry red.

"I haven't even said that I love you yet" I replied. I was stunned by the fact that after everything that happened, she had said it first.

Her eyes instantaneously turned steel cold. "Marcus, I swear! If after all this, you don't!-"

She was cut off by my bear hug as I lifted her off her feet and twirled her in the air- her hair trailing behind her as she moved. As the background seemed to move in circles around us, I focused on her face. Her eyes softened and her lips curved to form a smile- that smile I had built my whole life around. As I put her down, I smiled at her. She smiled back. It was the perfect time to say it.. "I love you too"

As we sat under the bridge, soaking in the thrill of the moment, I couldn't help but be pricked by my conscience. The feeling that even after she had come clean, I was still hiding something from her.. But my heart begged me for five more minutes.. Five more minutes- because right now, in the middle of all the chaos, everything was perfect.

We both were lying semi-recumbent, backs to the bridge as we enjoyed the feel of everything. My arm was draped around her shoulders and her head lay on my shoulder- her wavy hair tickling my neck as she moved around trying to find the right angle. 

I laughed. Something about the imperfection in the scene just seemed to make it all the more precious to me. She lifted her head off of my shoulder before looking at me with a puzzled look. 

"Just because I love you doesn't mean you get to act weird" she said with a smirk.

I chuckled. She would never change.. I knew that.. And I loved her for it.

As I told her my problem, Isa looked at me worriedly. This look wasn't one of concern about her life.. Rather, she was concerned that in the attempt to save her life, I might risk my life..

"Don't worry Isa. I won't." I said coolly. There was no reason for her to worry.

"And how do I know you're not lying?" Isa's reply was unsure. She wanted to trust me.. But she felt that I was unfairly valuing her life above mine.

I prepared myself mentally for all possible reactions. This was a pretty big piece of information I was going to share with her and who knew how she was going to take it?

"Because of this" I replied- raising the right sleeve of my t-shirt to once again reveal the wound she had inflicted on herself so many weeks ago.

"Alex" she read it out. Her eyes showed the same tinge of sadness. However, it was different from the usual reaction. This time, there was no longing in her eyes.

There was a moment of silence, before she finally broke it. 

"How long have you known?"

"Just today morning"

"Alright. I suppose that makes us more of a team than we thought we were.. Partners?"

"Partners" I said in agreement.

A few hours later

I couldn't believe the plan we had come up with.. The logic was solid.. But would it work? Or more importantly.. Would I bet our lives on it?

This plan would need a fair amount of preparation. We needed to feign compliance till the last possible second. Any unforeseen complications and it would blow up in our faces.. 

But it was the only chance we had right now..

I looked at Isa. She nodded. 

"Alright, let's do this thing" I said- confidently. Inside however, I knew we were taking on two masterminds. Two of the best in their field. Hopefully, this path wouldn't lead us to our doom.
