------------ chapter 29 starts here------------
"And what you didn't account for... Is me"
I heard the voice from behind. Could it be? It was Lance.. But how was that possible? He was stuck in a dead end.. He should have been ahead of us.
"I'm sorry. I didn't know where he would make the jump on you guys."
---------------------------------------------------
Isa and I stood watching as Lance tied Hans to a chair. After making sure the knots were sufficiently tight, he began to revive Hans.
As he did so, my thoughts went back to the moment in which he saved me.. Did that mean he was actually going to let us live?
I was shocked back into reality as Lance- successful in reviving Hans- jammed his knife down into the thigh of Hans- evoking a muffled scream from the tied up, gagged man.
I couldn't watch this.. This was pure torture.. He hadn't even asked for the location of the rebel committee meeting yet..
"Where is the meeting point?"
"I'm not going to tell you."
Lance pulled out the knife from the thigh of Hans. He did this slowly- dragging out the duration of pain inflicted- before finally tossing the knife to the side.
He then pulled out a gun and shot Hans in the leg.
I looked at the knife- it lay about ten feet away from me. If I could get to it, I'd at least have a weapon to use. We hadn't risked keeping weapons on our body so we could pass any frisking performed, and we didn't have the time to go back to our stash- located in a small hole on the outside of the building.
As I slowly made my way to the knife, my heart started to beat faster. I bent over and as quietly as possible picked the knife up- slipping it into the back of my pants.
Lance had not noticed the movement- he was completely focused on breaking Hans.
"No" I heard Hans' pain-filled voice.
As he fired another bullet- this time into the hip of Hans, I heard a loud voice.
"This building is surrounded! Surrender with your hands behind your heads. If orders are not complied with, lethal force will be taken."

The first day after the Flipsyde
As for the police force? I doubt they'd act against their leader without any sort of evidence. And that's exactly what I had..
But If I was able to get some...
-----------------------------------------------
I watched in horror as Lance put a bullet in the brain of Hans.. "At least you're more useful this way"
I pulled out the knife. This man was crazy!
"You took everything from me! My plan- ruins! My glory- burnt to ashes! My legacy? A jail cell! Now watch as I take everything from you!" He shouted to me.
I knew what he was going to do. He was going to shoot Isa.
But if I could aim right, this knife might just be able to knock the gun out of his hand. As he aimed at Isa's head, I flung the knife.
The knife flew and hit him- three feet away from where I aimed- smack dab in the middle of the stomach. He dropped to his knees- the gun clattering to the floor.
I looked at Isa- she was unhurt. She looked back at me with gratitude. Then her smile turned into a smirk. "You were aiming for his hand weren't you?"
My cheeks started to turn red. How could she know that??
I snapped out of those thoughts as I remembered about Lance. He was still dangerous- even when wounded"We need to go!" I shouted to Isa.
We made a break for the exit- which was to my right. In my peripheral vision however, I saw that Lance had reached the gun. He lifted the gun- aiming towards me, and fired.
