Hey guys :) back with another chapter
-------------chapter 17 starts here-------------
I ran towards the bridge- trying to get as quickly as possible from the safety of the bush to the safety of the bridge..
Over the past few days, I had noticed a pattern.. The patrols in the city were more concentrated in the residential area, less in the work areas and finally least in public places.. I suppose it was a fine strategy- who in their right mind would come to these areas to raid? That was probably why I hadn't seen too many patrols in all my days climbing over the wall..
As I did my routine check and headed under the bridge, I checked the time.. 1:10. Hope she wasn't late like last time.
As if on cue, the vines parted and she strolled in- handing me her backpack as she did.
As she took a seat, I took a peek at the contents of the backpack. There was a pair of jeans, a t-shirt and a cap.
I looked at her again. "What are these for?"
"For wearing.. Duh" she said rolling her eyes.
"You want me to wear this?" I asked- still confused.
"Aww does poor little Marcus want me to spell it out?"
"Fine." I replied- waiting for her to leave so I could get changed..
She didn't budge an inch.
Did she seriously expect me to go out and change in the open??
She smiled at me sweetly- she obviously knew exactly what was going on in my mind. "That's right" she said- finally falling to the floor with a giggle..
I stormed out- changing just around the corner of the wall- out of the view of the main buildings..
When I finally stepped back inside, she asked me if we should start now. By now I knew I wasn't going to get answers from this girl, so I simply nodded.
-----------------------------------------------
As we reached what appeared to be the front of a mall, Isa leaned in, pulled my cap down to cover my face and put my arm around her shoulders.
What was she doing? I started to blush, knowing that I had my hand draped over the shoulders of my crush
"Facial recognition" She said quietly, as we passed the entrance of the mall. "If they think we're a couple, they only need to see one of our faces to identify us as belonging to the rich section. Luckily for us, there won't be any more facial recognition cameras after this checkpoint.
After passing the security, she took my arm off from around her shoulder. We walked past a few shops before she finally turned into a bowling alley.
"Let's see if you're as good as you say you are" she taunted before heading inside.
I smiled. It was on!
Our bowling scores were definitely not matched.. And frankly, after the way she was talking, I figured she'd end up winning by a mile. But surprisingly enough- she wasn't.
Not to say we didn't have fun.
Once she snuck up behind me, just to grab the ball right before I swung it. How did that end? Well, apparently the natural order of the universe says that no matter what happens, I end up on the ground.
Once when I tried to return the favor, she moved the ball out of the way, and what happens next? Me on the ground..
But all in all, I was beating her so it was fine :)
At the end of five frames, the score was an awkwardly lopsided 79-38.
I couldn't help but smirk at her. "Honestly, I thought you'd put up a better show" I teased.
"Oh really?" She replied- raising an eyebrow. "And what happens if I win?"
"Umm I'm not really sure"
"Fine I know.. You meet me every day at 1:15 till the next flipsyde"
I was both shocked and pleasantly surprised. Pleasantly surprised because that would mean I could spend more time with her. Shocked because that meant I wouldn't be able to help my family every day by doing my errands.
Even then, I knew she couldn't win this, so it didn't really matter what conditions she placed.
"And if I win?" I asked.
"Seriously? You're going to ask a girl to give you something if she loses, despite you having a head start? Where's the chivalry??"
"I guess you're right" I replied. But somehow, I felt more scared than I should have been.
On the sixth frame, I scored a nine. Not bad. I'd like to see her beat that..
She slowly walked up to the lane, and on her swing, released the ball forwards- slipping in the process and landing on her back.
"Are you okay?" I asked her. She nodded and pointed ahead- a strike. She hopped to her legs and headed back off for me to bowl.
My next frame was an 8
Followed by a strike. This time, she had headed up to the front and unleashed an absolute fireball.
How was this happening?? This couldn't be possible!! My eyes had to be deceiving me. I had to win this!!
Three strikes plus two bonus strikes later, I was down 188-156. My eyes widened as I saw the final scoreboard. I saw her smirk. She walked up and stopped in front of me. After pinching my nose, she walked out of the bowling alley with a simple "see you tomorrow"
